I've been reading One Piece manga for the last couple of months (I'm a slow reader) and I recently finished reading the Jaya Arc, so... I decided the share my personal thoughts on it!
(P.S.: I read manga in Russian and I couldn't find its proper translation in English)
(P.P.S.: I'm not good at putting thoughts into words, sorry...)
First of all, this introduction is... Really something, as usual (+ points for the quote)
Second, they're so funny and silly in those diving suits 😆😆
Masira now is one of my favorite characters 🦍
What the-
Usopp's new counterpart?
Kids, please don't be like Luffy, don't take food from strangers
I liked Luffy and Teach's first interaction a lot 😆
...And I didn't like Bellamy at all (+ points for Oda's drawing skills)
This sounded pretty inspiring, but I feel like it will backfire on everyone later...
In a bad way
Usopp, nooo 😅
🎵'Cause baby, you're a firework~🎵
I thought about that song while reading that chapter 😅
I'll say it right away: I love the Saruyama Alliance family! They must be protected at all costs and you can't convince me otherwise! 🦧🦍🌰👨👦👦💕
Now we know that it's around 1520's in One Piece universe (maybe, of course, time passes differently in that universe, but still)
I, actually, don't like spiders and insects myself, but I liked how Usopp interacts with them 🕷🤥
Luffy has joined the path of revenge 😈
But, seriously, Luffy, kick Bellamy's ass for the Saruyama Alliance family 🦧🦍🌰!!!
Face expressions in One Piece is what keeps me alive lmao 🤣🤣
Another points for the drawing skills here (kick his ass, Luffy!)
To the sky!
Also, we were somehow introduced in this arc to Whitebeard Pirates and Whitebeard himself (aka: Edward Newgate)
Luffy said to his crew that he loves them 🥰🥰🥺🥺🥺🥺 (maybe it's an incorrect translation, but I don't really care at this point))))) )
Overall, I really liked it. I'd give it 8,5 abracadabras out of 10. We got a lot of new characters here (as usual in One Piece), a lot of new information about the One Piece universe and more motivation for me to keep reading! I'm really looking forward to Skypiea Arc! Wish me luck in reading! Byeeeeeeeee
It's time to hunt monsters.‼️‼️‼️
More Old Faces Appear
Seriously, I am happy that the Strawhat's trip to the Sky Islands truly brought a lot inspiration to the man and now follows in his ancestor's footsteps as an explorer.
Blackbeard, Jinbe and Masira with a younger s/o
Blackbeard
When he was plundering an island when he first saw you. You intrigued him, enough that he wanted you to join his crew. Being a pirate is a dangerous life, and he wanted to bring someone on who still had their whole life ahead of them to devote to this lifestyle.
He approached you and told you who he is, asking if you want a life of adventure and plunder on his crew. That sounded pretty thrilling, and he was handsome in a strange way. What you didn’t know, is that he wanted to make you his apprentice.
Despite still being young himself, he wanted to make sure that there was someone to take over the mantle of the Blackbeard pirates just in case something happened to him. Who better to hold that mantle than someone he’s attracted to?
He brags about his accomplishments to you, about how he was in the whitebeard pirates, about how he has the strongest crew (he likes to flaunt your strength especially) and how he’s going to crush all the other pirates.
Masira
Masira had you join his crew when you told him that you were a treasure hunter, and found discovering ships interesting.
Being younger than him, he’s okay with helping you learn the ropes. It just means that you’ll catch on quicker. You’re both naturally strong, but you slightly more so.
He loves the attention that you give him, and becomes a bit jealous with others, bringing out his aggressive side. Especially when it’s someone who is slightly younger than him.
Every so often you’ll pretend to point out treasure and he’ll get overexcited. Then when he realizes you’re joking, he’ll pout. He can’t wait to start a new adventure with you by his side.
Jinbe
You met Jinbe on fishman island. You had always wanted to go there, but being a human, there weren’t many ways to get there. So you willingly snuck onto a ship as a stowaway. There was no way that a boat would want to go there as a tourist attraction.
There you met Jinbe. You recognized him as a warlord, and part of the sun pirates. He was so delighted that you were interested in him and fishman culture.
Jinbe realized that forging a real connection with you could help bring the fishmen closer to the surface, and it could help them become more normalized to the humans. Especially with someone from the younger generation.
Everywhere you go, every minute you spend is another minute towards normalizing fishmen and human interaction. Maybe you can even normalize fishman human romance, too?
It's March 4th
Happy birthday Masira of Jaya! He is 25 years old.
