Massssks…so many masks!! Like many things, I need to get waaaay better about posting WIP and process pics >3> I’ve made several dozen masks so far. I usually ‘assembly line’ when making things in bulk, but for these masks, I’m generally making one at a time since I’m tweaking *something* on almost every mask–to try to make them as effective as I can. We’ll see where I end up.. eventually!

I was reading this in NY times about Sioux Falls, SD.
South Dakota has the highest hospitalization rate in the country, with about 42 of every 100,000 South Dakotans hospitalized with Covid-19, according to the Covid Tracking Project. Still, the state has no mask mandate, and on Tuesday night, Mayor Paul TenHaken of Sioux Falls cast the tiebreaking vote to strike down a citywide mask mandate, which he has called “simply unenforceable.”
Mayor Paul TenHaken has given up. One ABSOLUTELY cannot enforce a mandate if it doesn’t exist.
But in San Francisco our Mayor London Breed actually led. She did by setting a mandate immediately. Asking people to follow the mandate. And then she had park rangers and other community leaders hand out masks at parks while explaining why they are important.
SHE ALSO WENT OUT and handed out masks.
Meanwhiles she asked that civilians don’t police masking. Which, at the time, didn’t make sense but does now.
It boggles my mind - these “leaders” who give up. Can you imagine them during WWII? After Pearl Harbor? They would have thrown their hands up in the air and just given up.
These are not leaders. These are - I guess - spineless people who don’t care about their communities.

Even though I’m always super careful, seeing it in black and white helps reassure me that even if this is a hoax (WHICH IT’S NOT) I’d rather be safe than sorry, and show compassion to those around me.
