I’ve been watching the new doctor who series and I’ve been having trouble deciding whether or not I think the Master is the one before Missy or after.

So I’ve just decided that the Master is actually a clone or something.

Because if he were after Missy he would have said something about the Doctor copying him with the “upgrade” to Time Lady. (Also, all of that good character development, I loved all of that and don’t want to see it wasted.)

And Gallifrey couldn’t have been destroyed pre-Missy, because I vaguely remember her mentioning it and obviously the Doctor went there.

Maybe he was made from Simms and then regenerated and kept in like a stasis? Until Gallifrey decided they needed him maybe, after around “Heaven Sent.” He went along with it for a while but found out he wasn’t the “real” Master, but a backup, along with the timeless child stuff and did what he did on Gallifrey as a result.

Also there was a post about him looking for validation of his identity from the Doctor and I can’t find it but it was very interesting and relevant to this.
