Claire, a spirited fourteen-year-old, arrived in the rugged Scottish landscape in 1948. With the winds whispering secrets of the past, she embarks on a daring mission fraught with peril and perhaps foolishness. Driven by a heart full of hope and nostalgia, she is determined to seek out her only true love, believing that she can alter the course of destiny itself. The shadows of history loom large, yet she is undeterred, ready to confront whatever challenges lie ahead in her quest for a love that once burned bright. Will she carve a path to success and uncover the elusive joy she seeks? Or will the relentless grip of destiny continue to bind them, plunging them yet again into the depths of loss and sorrow they have faced so many times before? The future teems with possibilities, where hope dances alongside the spectre of heartache, leaving them eagerly awaiting what fate has in store.
okay, i have to talk about faith fraser being alive after all this time because—wow. that final scene in season 7 completely blew my mind, and i’m still piecing together what it could mean.
first, remember: faith was supposed to be stillborn. so how did she really survive? and if she did, how could she have possibly known the lullaby claire sings to her? that song wasn’t something passed down or learned—it’s a very personal moment, sung only after faith was born. so how did faith teach it to fanny? that timeline just doesn’t add up.
this opens up some wild possibilities:
master raymond’s involvement? given his mystical and manipulative tendencies, could he have saved faith through some dark means? maybe he had a secret role in ensuring her survival, whether medical or supernatural.
memory and trauma playing tricks? could the baby claire held in the hospital have been someone else? Or was that scene a traumatic hallucination or a symbolic vision, representing loss that wasn’t quite real?
faith was switched at birth? perhaps the grave and the funeral were for a different baby, and faith was hidden away for her safety, either by raymond or someone else.
time travel or mystical intervention? considering the show’s penchant for the mystical, maybe there’s a deeper magical or time-bending explanation we haven’t uncovered yet. what if faith’s survival ties into the stones or some other unexplored lore?
the song as a clue? if faith taught fanny the lullaby, could that mean faith has memories or knowledge that defy linear time? is there a hint here about the nature of the soul, memory, or even reincarnation? we know jamie has experienced dreams about things he couldn’t possibly have known—like moments from claire and bree’s time. notably, he dreamt of bree long before he ever saw any pictures of her.
this twist rewrites so much of what we thought we knew about the frasers’ story. it raises questions about identity, loss, and the limits of memory and history. i’m obsessed with unpacking how this will affect claire and jamie’s future — and what it means for the entire narrative.
what do you all think? any theories on how faith’s survival fits into the bigger picture? is this a mystical miracle, a hidden secret, or something else entirely? i’m all ears!
Claire: “How do you do?”
Master Raymond: 🐸
Do you think Master Raymond will come back maybe in book 10 and is there familial connection with Claire?
There is definitely a familial connection. he tells her as much in Dragonfly In Amber - their aura is the same color. Blue, the color of healing.
As to whether he'll come back in Book 10...Well, I suppose that just about anything is possible. I definitely want him to tell Claire what he was doing in Boston in 1968, meeting up with Donner and Robert Springer aka Otter Tooth...
