Dragon Ball: Intended Journey is a fan work by Eduard Kassel that instead has Chi-Chi go along with Goku after the encounter with the Ox King and accompany him on his journey. It leads to a whole lot of major changes, characters getting a chance at the spotlight and bringing the original Dragon Ball to life in a way it never did before.
This here is the roster for the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament. Twice as big and filled with an interesting cast that would’ve never been there before. The author not only captures the charm and goofy humor of the original Dragon Ball, but is able to write entertaining and rich choreography for the fight scenes. I genuinely adore this fic so much. Kassel is in the middle of the King Piccolo saga and is updating the saga regularly. Recommend you check it out!
Dragonball Pride headcannons because I can
Goku is the biggest straight ally. The one he doesn’t understand about the LGBT community is the amount of hate they get.
Master Roshi is also an ally. The amount of things that have happened to him has fully desensitized him to anything that would give a normal old man a heart attack.
The Frieza race are all bigenital and have no gender norms. So they can present themselves however they want to.
The Saiyan race has the two biological genders but no norms or restrictions based on gender. And being queer is normal.
Master Shen has been a closeted gay for the past 500 years. He only recently started to gain confidence to express it due to growing up in the homophobic times in history.

Just came across this bit, as Ed encounters Ishvalans in the ruins of Xerxes, and I think it contradicts later stuff?
(Learning about Scar killing the Rockbells, chapter 41)
They say
His right arm bore the markings of [Ishvalan] warrior priests, and
He killed the Rockbells in the early days of the war.
I need to double check this stuff, but I'm pretty sure the tattoo was anathema due to being alchemy related. Scar's brother wasn't a warrior priest, so even if these guys saw it before and misunderstood, it wouldn't have been on a priest. And Scar's brother was killed by Kimblee, therefore after Order 3066 mobilised the alchemists, in the last year of an ~8 year war.
I mean, unless Kimblee went to war early on and Volume 15 tells the Ishval Civil War out of order.

drawing toriyama babies is my greatest struggle, but my personal favorite dragon ball "what if" will always be "what if goku went to crane school instead of turtle school.
crane school always seemed more focused on actual technique while turtle school focused mainly on raw power, so i kinda wonder how much it would've impacted how goku fights. i don't see goku ever being down for murder but i figure that's not necessarily required, just definitely not discouraged either.
