I was looking for one where after Antonio's ceremony someone was asking him something and I can't remember most of it but I remember he said that they didn't have time for him before he got a gift so now that he had one he didn't want anything to do with them/had no time for them
I GOT YOUUUUUUU
(Oh here's a good one.)
"Antonio you'll be with me today as we try to-"
"No thank you Abuela!" Antonio chirped from where he was cuddled as
Sylvie Brett was absolutely taken aback when Chief of Paramedics Hawkins strolled into briefing one morning to announce that she was receiving an EMT of the Year Award for her Paramedicine Program.
She received several praises, hugs, and congratulatory cheers all while her mouth was wide open in shock. She was so surprised, her brain had all but short circuited until her hand met Chief Hawkins’ firm grip. Before she could properly thank Chief Hawkins and her firehouse 51 family, the bells called for Ambulance 61.
From her morning cup of coffee, that she nearly jogged for when she got in, to the sudden announcement of her award, and then to being called to duty five minutes later, she almost thought she was going to pass out. It had felt like all her senses went from zero to sixty in under three seconds.
To still her racing heart, she called the one person she had been meaning to call ever since she had received the news.
Matt was over-the-top excited for her and repeatedly told her how much she earned it. Although their call was short, he didn’t fail to tell her how much he was proud of her and how much he loved her, and how he couldn’t wait to congratulate her in person. Hearing his words of encouragement and support meant the world to her, and for the rest of the day, it felt like she was walking on cloud nine.
Sylvie later found out that the award was all Mouch’s own doing; he convinced Hawkins to put a word in for her on account of the traction her program was getting from all of Chicago’s communities.
And so, a week later, when she accepted her award in front of her firehouse 51 family, officers, firefighters, and paramedics, Chicago’s own communities, and various Paramedicine patients, she made certain to put Mouch in the spotlight, alluding to the fact that she couldn’t have made Paramedicine possible without him, his support, and his encouragement.
After the ceremony, Sylvie nearly forgot how many time’s someone stopped her to personally congratulate her and how many times the words ‘thank you’ slipped past her lips. While she was very appreciative, it felt like she hadn’t stopped talking for hours and her throat felt as dry as a desert. But, she couldn’t find a moment to herself until the ceremony was winding down and everyone was starting to take their leave. The moment she could, she grabbed the nearest bottle of water she could find and walked off to the side to chug nearly all of it in one go.
“Not easy being the center of attention, huh?” Mouch asked behind her with a light chuckle.
Sylvie breathed a small laugh, capped her bottle, and let out a sigh of relief. “I didn’t think this many people would show up.”
“Why not?” Mouch curiously asked. “It’s not an award they give out willy-nilly. Trust me, you earned it, kid.” She beamed brightly at him, feeling joy and sincerity overflow her. He gave her a smug smile before asking, “I know it’s a lot to ask, but do you feel like hearing one last person give their congrats?”
Sylvie laughed at his light-hearted joking. “One more person, you promise?”
Mouch winked at her and replied, “Promise.” He turned to his side where the corner of the building was and motioned someone over.
Where Mouch disappeared, another person appeared.
Dressed in his uniform with his cap held in front of him, Matt Casey stepped out to greet her. He held the widest and most beaming smile, one that effortlessly spread to his eyes and crinkled the sides, showcasing the brightest and happiest face she missed immensely.
The words she had repeated for the last two hours was no longer in her vocabulary; all thoughts and steps on how to breathe were thrown out the window as her eyes held familiar blue ones that were only twenty feet away from her.
“Matt,” she finally said in a breathtaking gasp.
He approached her, never letting his smile waiver or fall. If anything, it grew brighter and wider with every step he took. He looked so proud and so happy for her.
“I told you I couldn’t wait to congratulate you in person, didn’t I?” he said, holding her still-shocked and lips-slightly-parted gaze. He pulled her in for a hug and held her tight against his chest. “I love you so much. Congratulations, Sylvie.”
She held onto him and nuzzled her nose against his neck, allowing herself to lose all sense of time and space, and instead, be lost in him. Her eyes began to water as she felt his arms around her waist squeeze her tighter, cementing the fact that he actually flew thousands of miles to be there to celebrate her and her award.
In a wet and blissful chuckle, she replied, “Thank you.”
warnings: one censored swear. other than that Adrian’s pretty sarcastic
an: this is a continuation of this story. this one is more dialogue focused. there are more characters now and this is from Peter’s pov. enjoy!
“Somebody’s having a great afternoon.” Really? How could you tell? I think as I flop down on the bottom bunk.
“It will be great when I push you out of that chair and delete your saves. Isn’t it my turn anyway?” I say although muffled. Adrian turns the volume down on his game and turns around in his chair. He kicks my duffle bag out of the way.
Adrian curls an eyebrow at me. “From what I remember, you said you’d be gone for the whole night. Also, you do know these are your saves too, right?”
“Honestly, whatever. Probably won’t get up til morning anyways.” I grunt and turn around.
“Alright,” Adrian sighs and crosses his arms. “Are you just gonna lay there like an idiot or do you wanna talk about it?”
“Talking about it makes it true.” I muster some motivation to get up and face Adrian.
“Well knowing you, it’s probably your fault either way.”
“I just don’t understand why Kiara hates me now. Yesterday we were perfectly fine but just now she blew up at me and walked out. I don’t get it.” I huff out and walk around our shared room.
“Like I said, it’s probably your fault.” Adrian thinks for a little bit then starts again. “Think this has something to do with you talking to Bela yesterday?”
“Why would that have anything to do with it?”
“Nothing really. Just that Bela tries to make fun of Kiara any chance she gets.”
“Well, I never gave her anything to work with. You know I wouldn’t do that. It’s not like she can get much from just me saying her name.”
“She can and will do exactly that and more. Don’t you think mentioning Kiara would garner some attention?” He asks like I’m an idiot for not getting it by now. I might be, honestly.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about dude.” I wave my hand, almost done with the conversation and sit back on the bed.
“Just think about it. I know you can't come to conclusions on your own.”
“But that doesn't-” Then it clicks. I knew Bela was smiling for a different reason. My mind goes back to yesterday and remembers seeing one of Bela’s friends talking to Kiara. She didn't seem happy but I didn’t know that it was my fault. “Oh sh*t.”
“There you go, see?”
“I have to go talk to Kiara. She probably thinks I'm a huge jerk now.” I race to put on my shoes and grab a hoodie to go out.
“It’s not too far from the truth.” I really didn’t need Adrian’s sarcasm right now. “Besides, it might be too late now.” The clock reads 7:15pm and is ticking down to curfew.
“Don’t care. Still have to try.” I almost trip over nothing in my hurry. “God, I hope she’s still outside.”
“I’ll be here if you fail.” Yeah, discouraging, I know. Unfortunately that’s just how Adrian wishes good luck to people. It always works though and I'm hoping the streak continues tonight.
