“You didn’t say it right...”
“You have to say it right.”
"Hello, Poppet." he said with a light smile at the woman who had become his friend.
Elizabeth smiled at the sight of him. Hair in loose tendrils of tarnished gold waving with the breeze, she held firmly to the railing of her inherited ship. He looked good with an eyepatch.
❝Ragetti.❞ His name sneaked through her grin before she could think. Many a sailor and pirate had sailed with the lanky pirate under their gaze and so few knew his name. Elizabeth in her time as his ally had pointedly learned his name. He and his convictions were unforgettable to her. Someone shouted in Chinese to her back and she turned halfway around to cast a glance over the deck before stepping aside to allow him step up beside her. ❝You’re a sight, aren’t you . . ?❞
"Captain? Orders?"
“Why Master Ragetti it be a glorious day wit’ full wind in th’ sails. There be nary a ship nor spit o’ land on th’ horizon. Th’ wheel be yers…which direction will ye go?”

"Given enough time, you be learning all sorts of t'ings..." She offered cryptically; over the centuries, she'd found herself in need of the skill, so she'd learned. Every word, every language, every letter and symbol beyond her own gibberish roots had been burned into her brain; but it had not been easy. Taking the bible from him gently, she set it on the time worn wooden floor of the loft on her other side, just out of his reach.
"Go to de bookcase an' get one of my books" she commanded with a smile, the bible was good enough for scripture but to learn to read, the mind should be sparked and for that the twitterings of a human representation of a deity was not her recommendation. She had seen the rise and fall of religions, watched her own congregation fall until she was nothing but a story. If there was one thing she didn't hold in high esteem it was religions believed by men.
"Or do you be wanting a different lesson?"
