57- We could get struck by lightning, but you want to kiss in the rain.
you were disappointed when you saw the storm clouds roll over the two of you, your plans of a nice day outside ruined by mother nature. it was mat’s first day off in what felt like months, and you weren’t even given the time to sit outside and enjoy your lunch before you had to throw everything back into the basket and head back to the car.
the soft pout on your lips had mat returning the look, though he was biting back a grin at the sight of your bottom lip pushed far out. his hand fell to your cheek, his thumb brushing across your bottom lip softly.
it was enough for you to suck your lip back in, a soft smile stretching across your lips as you kissed the pad of his thumb softly. mat smiled down at you, moving to kiss your forehead until you playfully bit on his thumb.
his hissed in mock pain, pulling his hand back from your face in time for you to grab it in your own. you pulled him in the direction of the car, determined to make it before the rain started falling.
you had come so close, seeing the car on the opposite side of the fence when you felt small drops of water land on your skin. you gasped softly, pulling mat as you picked up the pace in an attempt to seek shelter.
mat rolled his eyes but followed behind, until he was throwing the basket into the trunk of his car. by now, the rain was coming down at a fast pace, soaking straight through your shirt.
you reached for the door handle, wanting nothing more than to slide into the warm confines of the car and out of the cold rain, but mat caught you before you could reach it.
“mat, it’s raining!” you whined softly, lifting one of your hands above your head in a failed attempt to save yourself from more water damage.
“i can see that, baby.” he laughed gently at the pout reforming on your lips and brought both of his hands up to cup your cheeks.
“what if we get struck by lightning?” you quirked an eyebrow up, smiling when a loud laugh spilled past his lips.
“then i guess it’s our destiny.” you rolled your eyes, hitting his chest softly. “just wanna kiss you in the rain real quick.”
you hummed, letting your eyes fall shut as you waited for him to kiss you. it barely took him a minute to do so, soft lips molding against yours as water ran down both of your faces. his thumbs traced the soft skin of your cheeks, and you found yourself leaning further into him.
when he pulled back, your lips chased his, desperate for the feeling of his lips one more time.
"c’mon, baby, we don’t want to get struck by lightning, do we?” he kissed you once more, this time quick and soft, but it wasn’t enough as you reached up to hold the back of his neck, pushing him towards you one more time.
“maybe it’s our destiny, barzal.” he smiled then, giving in as he leaned back in for another kiss.
