Madison Chock and Evan Bates skating to selections from Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon for their free dance at the 2024 World Championships.

Here is Chock's explanation of the costumes, which she designed with Mathieu Caron:

I was inspired by Salvador Dali’s iconic painting “The Persistence of Memory”. I love the distorted surrealism in the painting. It reminds me that time is a concept we have created and can often be a heavy burden on the human mind until you realize the only time is now. Our program is about liberating yourself from the construct of time and using your time to be present and celebrate the beauty of living in the moment. My dress is meant to look like a melting clock, with the numbers all around melting off the clock, showing that time does not conform to a fixed idea. I also have arrows on my arms to represent the hands of time which are always moving forward. Evan’s costume is a representation of the human life, the white stripe representing his timeline and the stones representing meaningful memories. The black stripe on his other arm represents the afterlife.
