While I was in Brighton I went to a cosmetics store I haven't spent time in, in literally years and that is KiKo! KiKo is a makeup brand that I would describe as high-end drugstore because some of their products are very affordable and some holiday edition products are more mid price range boarder high-end. When I popped in they were having a summer sale and a 30% promotion so I decided to pick up a few products to try out.

in this mini haul I picked up 3 different formulated eyeshadows and a face powder so lets chat about the powder first. I picked up the Holiday Gems Precious Matte Powder reduced to £8.50 from £16.99 and i got shade 1 called White Chocolate which is the fairest in the range. This emerald coloured packaged powder comes in a hexagon diamond shade matching their holiday collection theme and has a imprinted star on the powder itself. It's a beautiful lightweight formulated powder that reduced shine without caking your makeup. Not only does it mattify but it also blurs your complexion which I now love in a finishing powder.

Like I said before I picked up 3 different types of eyeshadows formulas to play around with since I really haven't tried any eye products from them. Starting with the Lost In Amalfi Metal Chrome Eyeshadow reduced to £5 from £10. These eyeshadows are metallic-finish ultra-pigmented creamy eyeshadow and I picked up the shade Sparkling Champagne which is the most beautiful silver champagne glitter pigment I've ever seen. It's so pretty and looks glossy on the eyes I am obsessed. I also use this as a eye primer as well as a eyeshadow.

Now we have the individual eyeshadows starting with the Glitter Shower Eyeshadow, usually £8.99 but I paid £6.69. These eyeshadows are designed to be high-coverage glitter eyeshadow and I picked up the shade 08 Into The Rose which is beautiful silver toned pink lilac glitter. These are the eyeshadows you pick when you want a crazy glitter high intensity look on your eyes. It's a lightweight formula with rich intensity and the glitter is shockingly beautiful. The second individual I picked up is the Water Eyeshadow, usually £8.99 but I paid £4.50. These shadows are really unique and are designed as instant colour eyeshadow, for wet and dry use. I picked up the shade 200 Champagne. It has a soft creamy formula for high intensity and the colour I picked is perfect to blend with so many matte shades, it's one of their most universal shades. Out of all the eyeshadows I picked up this is by far my favourite formula.

I get a lot of questions about my favourite drugstore products and before Revolution was a thing I used to shop Rimmel London pretty much between the ages of 16-22 (probably). Now Rimmel London obviously have a lot of products but I wanted to chat to about one of my favourite products that I still use even to this day, it’s time to talk about the Stay Matte Pressed Powder.

When I was 16 and started wearing makeup I didn’t know a lot about makeup but I knew I didn’t like my skin looking shiney so I used to wear the Stay Matte powder by itself to start with and then with more products as I progressed. Now the reason I first started using Rimmel was because it was a real cheap makeup brand like their most expensive product at the time was £10.00 which probably isn’t the case now but we are talking 10 years ago. Now baby Bella’s beauty budget was a lot smaller back then so when I discovered a mattifying face powder that was not only a translucent powder but also £4.99 I was over the moon.

Now compared to a lot of highend or luxury powder this would be a real basic powder in comparison but it has always been the most constantly reliable for me. Even when I wear it not it still keeps me matte for ages, never cakes on my makeup and it’s just a easy size to throw in your makeup bag. Obviously it doesn’t come with a mirror but for something that affordable you can live with it. I love using old products because it really does prove that you don’t have to break the bank in order to have good quality makeup and sometimes the classics are just as good as the luxury brands.

You can buy this at any drugstore or throug Rimmel London’s website but honestly if you love a matte powder and don’t want to break the bank check it out!

Like I was saying we all have products we need in our collection that is our must have so what’s mine? Of course it’s the Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Blotting Powder, £24.00. I have repurchased this powder maybe 2 or 3 times already and honestly need to have it in my handbag at all times.

If like me you have oily or combo skin and want something to keep you matte and help keep your makeup lasting all day. This powder is a universal translucent shade that literally works for all skin tones. This blotting powder also helps diffuse your pores and adsorb shine to give you a natural matte finish. This powder always transforms any foundation I have to a matte foundation instantly. This powder is one of the few products I can honestly say doesn’t cake your face, clog your pores or leave a powdery finish on your face.

We all know by now have amazing the powder is (especially if you’ve read my blog before)but I also wanna chat about the packaging because it’s honestly just genius. If you have anything from the Fenty Beauty collection you’ll know most of the products are magnatised to some degree and this palette is no different. The bottom of this palette is magnatised and when you purchase the matching brush it connects to the bottom of the palette so you never loose it. Total genius right !? If you wanted to get the matching brush FYI it’s the Portable Touch Up Brush 130. This means touching up your makeup is even easier on the move and you don’t have to search your bag for a brush which is always my problem for the record!!

And the M.A.C obsession continues .....

From a previous M.A.C post I did someone commented saying I really needed to try out the studio fix powder foundation which works as a setting powder and a foundation by itself. After checking out a few reviews I decided to pick up the powder in the matching shade to my concealer and foundation.

For years I’ve seen people using M.A.C products in old YouTube makeup tutorials so to finally have one recommended to me I decided it had to be done so I decided to go for the powder plus foundation version. Now while M.A.C is technically a highend brand I would say it’s definitely one of the cheaper highend brands on the market where yes it’s more expensive then drugstore but you can still get a lot for your money. This powder is the perfect one to get if like me it’s your first M.A.C powder purchase reason being you can use this powder by itself as a foundation leaving your skin with a gorgeous matte finish. You can also use this powder to set your facebase on top of foundation to mattify your face.

This power is so lightweight and I’ve worn it both ways to see how it feels on the skin and honestly it leaves my skin looking so flawless especially when i use it to set my base. I’ve been throwing this on top of my studio fix foundation ans concealer and honestly the trio are a match made in heaven. A lot of powders can leave your skin looking cakes or like you’re wearing a lot of makeup at once but really this powder just blends so effortlessly.

So far I’ve tested a few M.A.C products and to no ones surprise the products are amazing they feel so lightweight on your face and yet have amazing coverage. It’s easy to see why the brand has won so many awards. If you’re looking for a duo powder this powder couldn’t be more perfect if you tried.

Powder foundation? Oh yes please!!!

Since being at home I’ve enjoyed giving me skin a break from my typical heavy duty foundation and instead found something to give myself a break. Being at home at the moment I’ve had so much fun playing with eyeshadow, highlight and contour and while playing with these I’ve wanted to keep my base as light as I can. So that being said I decided to go back to my fav powder foundations. I’m a big fan of powder foundations because they can give you coverage but it’s a much lighter, breathable on your skin and feels like you aren’t wearing anything. Wearing these recently has given me the light coverage I’ve wanted but hasn’t made my skin feel like I have a lot of product on though if I wanted to I could build product to give me more coverage. Normally I prefer a full coverage face but since I’m at home it’s not like I’m out to impress anyone really (my mum and brother wouldn’t really care if I had a full face on or not thankfully).

I wanted to show you my two favourite powder foundations, now the 2 I’m going to show you are highend foundation powders just because I haven’t found a drugstore product yet this is just as good (let me know if you have any recommendations). First up let’s chat Urban Decay Stay Naked Powder Fix . This foundation powder compact is £27.00 and described as a ‘medium buildable coverage, a real-skin matte finish, lasting up to 16 hours”. This powder is avaliable in 24 shades which is extremely impressive and Urban Decays biggest shade range. In this powder I’m shade 20CP which means fair skin with cool and pink undertones which matches up with the liquid foundation and concealer in the Stay Naked collection. I love using this powder and as you can see in the pic I’ve ever hit pan now so I’m going to need to be a little lighter with how much I use to make it last a bit longer.

My second foundation powder and a bit more of a recent purchase (feb I think) is the M.A.C Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation, £27.00. This powder is iconic and was recommended to me so many times I decided it was a now or never kinda situation so I treated myself to it. In this powder I am shade NW10 which again is a fair skin tone with pink undertones so again a perfect match for my skin tone. This powder is described as “ 24hr lasting formula, ultra matte medium buildable coverage with the a velvet texture to allow the skin to breathe”. While this powder has similar features to the Urban Decay powder this powder does have a few extra benefits such as reducing appearance of pores, photo friendly finish (meaning no flashback) and sweat and humidity resistant.

Both of these powders have become a real holy grail in my makeup collection and I wear either of these powders by themselves as a normal powder foundation or I use them on top of my foundation as a setting powder to give me even more coverage with a matte finish. If you are looking for something lightweight to give your skin a break or looking for some lighter alternatives with summer approaching these products are the dream combo. I have tested both powders in various situations and they have both lasted on me amazingly so while they are both a little pricey they are genuinely worth it.

But like I said if you have any cheaper alternatives please let me know.

So on this blog I chat a lot about products to use to help create a good facebase (which hopefully you enjoy) and now it’s time to look at powders to help keep that facebase set in place for the day. By now we all know I love matte finish makeup partly become I’m oily but also I personally don’t think I suit glowy makeup.

I decided I wanted to show you my favourite drugstore and high end powders that genuinely keep my facebase on all day. So first up we have the drugstore option which is the Maybelline Fit Me! Matte Poreless powder which is a bargain of £5.99. When I want to calm down on the makeup shopping and stick to drugstore this is my holy grail powder. This powder feels so lightweight on your skin and doesn’t cake your foundation which I’m so happy about yet it leaves you with a gorgeous matte finish. Like the powder says it also helps to blur your pores when you powder on top of foundation.

My highend option is the Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof setting powder, £25.00. This powder is a translucent formula that works for any skin tone and leaves your skin with a matte finish. This powder is also waterproof so it is perfect during the summer when you get a bit warm. I have actually tried this powder on top of my foundation when I washed my hair to see how it would last and my makeup genuinely looked the same afterwards.

If you want to keep your facebase fresh and long lasting these powders genuinely are amazing. They both keep a matte finish on your face while feeling lightweight and not faking your foundation. If you need a powder in your collection either of these powders will treat you well depending on your price point. Speaking of fenty like yesterday’s post , I’ve been wearing Fenty Beauty for a couple months now and now has come the time where I’ve ran out of something and needed to get another!! Usually I tend to run out of powders the quickest because I’m oily af so I do need to use powder during the day.

Previously I used powders from so many drugstore and highend brands but I always find that after applying them they start to cake up my foundation or t zone I’m powdering which is so annoying. But using the Fenty powder it just blends with my makeup so effortlessly regardless of if I’m using the fenty foundation or another brand it’s just consistently good.

When I first ran out of the powder I did try to go back to my other powders to save money instead of buying a new Fenty powder but honestly once you go Fenty you don’t go back. So naturally I had to go get another powder. Unlike a lot of highend powders this palette offers something unique in terms of the powder and brush, the brush is magnetised and it attaches to the bottom of the powder which is just pure genius because you can never lose the brush and it doesn’t take so much room in your handbag. Now with this powder comes in one shade which is labelled “universal” and when most people open this powder and see the white powder they think it’s not for them. But this powder blends in to all skin tones and I have friends of various skin tones and it works like a dream for them as well.

If you’re looking to try a powder I would honestly really recommend this, yes £24.00 is expensive for a powder but if you’re looking for a powder that is lightwear and gives you a gorgeous matte finish this is what you’re looking for.
