Most books set in the Low Country of SC are beach romances, so I was glad to see Carolina Moonset by Matt Goldman - crime fiction set in Beaufort, SC. "Joey Green has returned to Beaufort to help care for his father, who suffers from dementia. His father's short-term memory is gone, but he still remembers all of his old stories. Joey becomes worried when his father, Marshall, starts hallucinating and talking to people that aren't there. And then a prominent developer is murdered and several things point to Marshall being the killer." Goldman keeps the reader guessing. You're never quite sure who the killer is until the end. The story has great flow and pace. Lots of secrets. A couple of stereotypical southern characters, but not too much. Interesting dating experiment between Leela and Joey - What if on your very first date you told each other your worst faults? Get the bad things out of the way. Some interesting conversations between those two.
