I'm reading Stray Souls, and being struck time and time again how reminiscent the writing style is of the Discworld books. Or... No, that's not right, it's not Discworld as a whole, or even necessarily the same style of humour. But specifically the Ahnk-Morpork sections, the understanding the vibrancy of a city, its mundane magic, the way the average person is usually kinda messy and awkward and gross and unimpressive, but special not in spite of that, but because of that...

Anyway more folks should read the Matthew Swift books.
