The Proposal

Situation: Victoria reacts to Max’s proposal.

Victoria stared, face blank and void of emotion at first. She was so shocked, she didn’t know how to respond properly.

Then came the huge grin. At first, she questioned whether she had actually heard him right. Max? Proposing? That hardly seemed realistic. But the look he was giving to her as he asked. The awkwardness with which he stood. It was obvious he really did say something out of the ordinary.

Then came the tears. He was waiting for her response, but she couldn’t seem to get her voice to work for her. She continued to stare at him a minute more before he asked if she’d heard him.

“I did…” She said carefully, studying his eyes. He was looking at her like “well? What’s your response?” She held her breath for a moment longer before nodding her head. She couldn’t even feel her head bobbing up and down, so she just hoped her body was doing her bidding.

“I love you so much, Max. Of course I’ll marry you. I… I didn’t even know this day would ever come,” she said, voice full of emotion as she stared at him while he slipped an engagement ring on her finger then put his hands on her shoulders.

“It came. It really came and now you know how I feel too,” he said simply. His face didn’t quite reflect the words he spoke, but she was used to that. She was used to him appearing void of emotion to anyone that didn’t know him. But she also knew that he loved her, and now she knew that he wanted to marry her.

And she had honestly never felt so happy or so loved in her life.

Maximillian Preston Jr. - Original

Maximillian Preston Jr., or as everybody calls him, Maxie, is a very tender, sweet, loving young man. He is a vampire, born to his parents, Victoria and Maximillian Sr. He fell in love with his childhood best friend but didn’t realize it for the longest time. It took his best friend telling him three separate times that he loved him before he finally realized oh hey, I love you too.

Maxie is a sweetheart, and a romantic through-and-through. He is completely different from his parents, though he tends to take more after his mother than his father (though on the looks department, he definitely took after his father).

With blonde hair and green eyes, Maxie is 3/4 English and 1/4 Russian. He loves to hike and do things outdoors.

He was 18 when the woman of his dreams died horribly, leaving him crushed and in emotional agony, though he never showed it. He continued to smile and laugh and play like nothing happened. To this day, no one knows just how horribly Sarah’s death affected him, but now he is with his husband, Ezrah, who is his childhood best friend and lover.

Funny enough, for years, Maxie dated all kinds of women and didn’t even realize he liked guys. Every time he got a new girlfriend, Ezrah would get jealous and run the girls off, but not before they pointed out he was jealous. Completely oblivious to his best friend’s feelings for him, though, Maxie would argue every time that they were just crazy.

And yeah, that’s Maxie in a nutshell. Thank you for your time! I hope you enjoyed reading about my lovely little vampire boy.

MAX PRESTON

AGE: Twenty-two. BIRTHDAY: August 5th. HOMETOWN: Striaton City, Unova. OCCUPATION: Thief. STARTER: Pansear, female, Brave. FACECLAIM: Charles Melton. STATUS: Open.  

BEGINNINGS IN STRIATON CITY…

People come from all over Unova to see Striaton City’s Garden. The water shows put on at the fountain are a particular tourist attraction, as are the hedges shaped like Pidove and Pikachu. The Prestons started out in Striaton City as wealthy imports from Nacrene City who had made good investments in tech-startups and presumed themselves too good for the warehouse city. Initially they supplied the money that helped pay for the construction of the gardens, but two generations later the family isn’t having such good luck. Max Preston was about three-years-old when his father made a bad investment and they went from having an extra beach cottage in Undella Town to barely able to afford their everyday house. It didn’t help that neither of his parents knew how to live within their means or that they refused to let go of Max’s nanny whom Priscilla Preston referred to as “a necessity”. Max grew up with their constant fighting over why his father had spent $500 on monogrammed golf clubs or why his mother couldn’t go without her monthly $120 Brazilian wax.

Max learned early on that it was better to escape his parents rather than pick sides in one of their petty arguments - he had once stupidly taken the bait and agreed that red meat was bad for you and spent the next two hours being lectured about grass fed beef. He spent a lot of time down at the Striaton Gym watching Cilan, Chili, and Cress. He liked watching the battles but he always thought the three “starter type” deal was a little weak. He watched trainers come in with Electric-types and lay them all flat. When the gym didn’t have any battles going, Max hung out at the park. There he watched other children play with Pokemon cards or show off their Pokedolls. He resented them because his family’s problematic spending meant he couldn’t afford either, instead he was forced to play with toys that had been in their house’s basement since his dad was a kid and smelled accordingly. It wasn’t long before he learned to swipe other people’s cards when they weren’t looking to build his own decks. It turned out if you talked a person up and made them feel good enough, they didn’t realize what they were missing. As he got older Max graduated from Pokemon cards to jewelry from Striaton’s many tourists, although it was much harder to sell without being caught so it proved difficult to make enough money to move out of his warring parent’s house. And it wasn’t like he’d had the grades or the finances to go to college.

One day an ad for Professor Oak’s Pokedex Challenge came on over the radio while Max was lifting some Hot Fries from the Pokemart, Max immediately saw it as his way out of Striaton. The only problem was he didn’t have any Pokemon and therefore didn’t technically qualify as a trainer. However, Max had heard of a room in the Striaton Gym that held served as a play area for monkey Pokemon that the brother leaders were training but not currently using. He knew he could technically catch Pokemon in the tall grass but he didn’t want some weak Patrat or Lillipup, he wanted something with a little more flare. So one day, Max walked into the gym with a nice bottle of sparkling Fresh Water to distract Clyde and slipped into the back rooms without him noticing. He had to try a few doors before he finally found the right one, but then he saw it: a Pansear, a Panpour, and a Pansage climbing on a huge jungle gym. He entered eagerly, but the Pokemon were not happy. The Pansage immediately began Vine Whipping him and when it got tired, the Panpour took over with it’s Water Gun. When it stopped, Max sat soaking wet and attempted to prepare himself for the fire that was going to come but the Pansear just laughed at him. Max couldn’t help but laugh himself and pretty soon they were sitting on the floor in stitches. That is, until he heard voices coming from the hall. Max panicked, he opened a window and swung his legs out, motioning for Pansear who eagerly followed. They climbed out easily, but unfortunately so did the Panpour and the Pansage who took off in different directions. Max knew he couldn’t stay in Striaton for long or else Officer Jenny would have him in cuffs, so he hightailed it home and grabbed some of his mom’s expensive jewelry before making a beeline for the train to Kanto.
