100 Days of Writing, DAY 100!!/WIP Wednesday
I DID IT BINCHES!!! 100 DAYS OF WRITING! @the-wip-project
Did I skip a day or two because Life Happened and we’re still living in an endless Dumpster Fire? Sure, but for the majority I was creating and that is what I’m proud of. I managed to write a hella lot of my last Vega/Ryder fic, outline and start my SGA rewrite, as well as a few one-shots. Was it hard at times? yes, but I got through it.
And honestly? That’s the thing I’m most proud of, I got through it.
Here’s the most recent bit of my SGA story.

“‘Scuse my language, and sorry if this is blunt, but what the fuck are you doing here instead of a Michlen stared restaurant?”
Kerry let out a laugh as did the others before they answered, “I could ask you the same thing. How did you get the job?”
“She knows Doctor Jackson.” Crystal supplied as she snagged another lemon cookie and found a spot on her plate where it wasn’t going to fall. As they moved back towards the table she continued, “At least that’s what the scuttlebutt is.”
“I mean, that part isn’t wrong.” Max shrugged and gingerly put her plate on the green felt. “I grew up in Chicago but we moved to Colorado Springs for my mom’s job when I was in high school. I ended up getting a scholarship to the University of Illinois and moved back to the city for college. That’s where I met Dan-err...Doctor Jackson. We actually took a lot of the same classes but didn’t become friends until our sophomore year.”
“So that’s the resume highlights, what about family?” Kerry asked as Katie Brown shuffled the cards and passed the desk over to Charlotte who started to deal the new hand.
“I have a younger brother, he’s in the Army. Then it’s just my parents who still live in Colorado Springs.”
“And they were okay with you leaving for ‘Antarctica’?” Melinda asked, her South African accent taking a bit for Max to parse. “I almost had to give my PhD dissertation again to get them on board.”
Max shrugged while organizing her card and discarding the lowest one, “They weren’t thrilled but when I told them Doctor Jackson nominated me and that I wanted to try something new they came around to the idea. Eventually.”
“So Max,” Kate Heightmeyer asked after a beat of silence where everyone focused on either their cards or the snacks. “You’ve been here almost a month, what’s one thing you miss about Earth?”
“Just one?” Max cracked while drawing a card and hoping the smile from the joke hid the one from getting a card she needed. “I’d have to say Big Belly Burger. No offense Kerry.”
“None taken.” Kerry playfully tossed her cards down. “I’m out. I miss Starbucks, or rather any coffee that’s not black and has been sitting around for hours.”
“Video games.” Lydia said, pushing her glasses back up.
“TV shows. I lived for The Bachelor when it was on.”
