Here's a quick low effort comic thingie I thought of for queer platonic Maxpie, when theyre like. close or older than 16. Probably not going in my trinket duo tag lol
Basically Nodrian likes kissing a lot, what if max and maggie were aroace and vry much do NOT see the appeal. Both of them have never kissed anyone, try it out of curiosity and quickly realize "...this is really awkward actually. Why do people do this."
"ew" -> "I am curious tho.." -> *kiss* -> "still ew"
And their relationship continues as normal, and get to judge their siblings 1000x more

Without further ado... adoe...
Here's my fic (under cut) :)
“How about we go as Lilo and Stitch?”
“No.”
Max groaned and rolled his eyes, “Eves, you gotta stop shutting down my ideas.” Margaret rolled her eyes back, “You don't get it! This is gonna be my first like… fun, Halloween. I want it to be perfect.”
Max threw his hands up, “Umm, this is my second Halloween not in a box. I think I know what you're talking about.”
Maggie reached for the plate in front of them and threw a carrot at him, “Shouldn't we consider four people costumes because of your friends… umm… the gem and the metal?”
“Jade and Sterling.”
“Yeah, those two.”
Max shook his head, “They're doing some twin costume.” He was with them a few days ago helping them decide on a costume. The decision to the late had been between Mario and Luigi and two characters from a game he’d never played. It's been days and they still hadn't decided. It was pretty hilarious to watch them think and argue.
Max was about to bring up another idea, one Margaret would undoubtedly shut down, but his Pops came into his room.
He was dressed in his formal Dread Warden costume for some reason, “Hey, kiddos. Your dad and I have to run to an urgent meeting. Adrian should be here in a couple of minutes. Make sure you listen to him and such.” He then crossed the room quickly to give Max a quick hug and nodded and smiled at Maggie.
Max’s eyes followed his pops on the way out, “How about-”
“No.”
Max and Margaret stared at each other for a moment, “You don't even know what I was going to say.” He said. The corner of her lip raised slightly, Maggie cleared her throat and deepened her voice slightly, “How about we do Captain Chromium and the Dread Warden for Halloween?”
Max scoffed, “It's clever.”
“It's not clever if half the world does the same thing every year.”
Hugh and Simon Everhart-Westwood were unbelievable. Inconceivable. Impossible.
Like… Max was old enough to go trick or treating with his friends in his own freaking neighborhood by themselves.
Currently, Max was face first, corpse pose, on the couch. Groaning ever once in a while. For effect of course. Though his plan didn't seem to be working, since his Dad took any mind to it.
He tilted his head slightly to speak and be heard, “What if we have a tracker on us at all times? Then can we go alone?” He said, partly sarcastic.
Hugh snorted, not looking up from the paper he was reading, “We're part of the government, son. We can track you through anything.”
“That only betters my point. I can't get kidnapped and killed if you're watching me.”
His dad sighed and said nothing.
Damn.
There were a few more moments of silence.
Hugh sighed once more and Max looked up. His dad finally met his eyes, “I'll talk with your Pops. Maybe we can… set a boundary.”
Max sat up fast but Hugh held up a hand, “Don’t get your hopes up. I never said yes and neither has Simon.”
Max nodded along but Hugh could tell his words were going in one ear and out the other by the huge smile on his face.
Hugh went back to his paper and Max ran off with his phone.
In all seriousness Hugh actually thought Simon would be on board with some convincing.
Yeah… Hell no.
“I, we, told him no, Hugh. You know as well as I what can happen at night. On Halloween night, ” Simon huffed, walking out of the bathroom wearing his pajamas. He then went to lay down and Hugh followed suit. They faced each other, both wearing frowns on their faces. Hugh tried to reason once more, “we cant shelter the boy too much, my love.”
“We're not sheltering him. Max is only 12, he's just not old enough yet.”
Simon flipped on his back, “Were supposed to be a united front, Hugh. You can't take a decision we made together and change it. Because when we tell him no, I'm gonna be the bad dad that has to put his foot down.”
Hugh reached over and caressed his husband's cheek, “That's not what I was trying to do. I'm sorry. It's just time has made me see differently.”
Simon huffed and said nothing.
Hugh continued, his voice light to try and get his point across nicely, “They’re going in a group. I think if we give them a boundary and make Max promise to keep his phone on and answer immediately it will be just fine. We know the neighbors relatively well.” Hugh defended, he then paused, “Hey, If Max goes alone then that means we’ll be home alone, with Adrian going to that party and all” Simon turned his head to Hugh, with an eyebrow raised as Hugh continued with a sly smile forming on his face, “Scary R-Rated Movie Marathon?”
Simon bit his lip, “Fuck it.” He shook his head and laughed, though it was a little strained “Scary R-Rated Movie Marathon!”
Max hurried to put on his shoes as the doorbell echoed across the large house. When he made his way downstairs he heard the sound of his Pop's voice, the tone was concerning but he could tell he was trying to mask it with a lighthearted tone.
“... and don't eat any candy before inspecting it first. There are some sikos out there that take advantage of this holiday to try and hurt kids. You should've seen the razor phase, grown adults slipped razor blades into kids chocolates and so many kids got hurt. Then there were the literal killer clowns…” Max was about to intervene, he nor Maggie didn't need to hear his Pop's Halloween dangers rant again, but his Dad appeared from what seemed like thin air and put his arms around him, “Don't scare the children, Love.” Simon sighed as Dad turned to them, “I was you kids here by ten. It's 7 now, 3 hours. Home. by. 10. Suggest a little earlier so you don't miss it.”
He turned his head to speak with Max only, “The sleepover is still happening, correct?”
Max smiled and nodded, “Yup, it's just us,” he motioned to himself and Maggie, “and Jade and Sterling.”
Hugh nodded and kissed his husband's cheek, who sighed deeply.
There was a moment of slight awkward silence before they heard the familiar voice of the twins approaching.
Max gave his Dads a hug before heading to the door, “Bye, we'll be safe.”
Jade and Sterling chose Mario and Luigi, which was funny, and Max and Margaret went with Joker and Harley Quinn.
The great thing about living in a rich neighborhood is that the people can waste their money to get the good stuff. Currently in their bags were multiple king and jumbo sized bars and family sized bags of stuff. It had only been an hour and their bags were nearly full.
“I think we scored for the rest of the dang year!” Sterling said, shoving candy into his mouth.
The rest of them agreed, walking toward the next house. They shoved the candy inside, as well as the could with it nearly overflowing.
"I think we're done, guys," Max spoke, setting his heavy bag on the floor.
Jade set him down too, "Yeah, I agree… but we still have so much time left."
Margret chuckled slowly, earning everyone's attention, "Hear me out… what if we went to the old Anarchist Tunnels? What's better than going to that spooky place on Halloween?"
Max laughed unironically, "That wellllll out of boundary. Plus, those collapsed."
"Since the council wants to create a new subway system, they cleared the rubble. The train cars and some of the anarchists stuff is still down there. Everything's banged up but it's pretty cool."
The twins seemed on border with the ideas but Max was quite hesitant.
"We're not allowed to leave the boundary. Especially to go there. My dad would literally kill me. Bye bye Max."
The three kids ganged up.
"It's not even far. We'd be there and back before our time was up." Maggie said, picking up her bag. The twins did the same thing, Jade pulling on Max's jacket to follow.
The walk there wasn't too long since Maggie knew a lot of shortcuts. Max was nervous the entire way, he looked over every corner twice, thinking one of his dads would appear to bust them.
Jade nudged his shoulder against Max's "Chill, dude. For all they know we're stuffing our faces about to collapse into a sugar coma."
"Just almost...." Sterling groaned, shoving yet another empty wrapper back into his bag.
The group laughed and Max eased just a little. When they reached the entrance to the abandoned subway Maggie didn't hesitate walking into the pitch black darkness. When she noticed the boys had stopped she laughed, "Oh woman up, let’s go." And then turned on her heels, leading the way.
Luckily his Pops made them all bring flashlights, so they were able to navigate through the uneven tunnels.
"I thought you said they cleared the rubble." Jade said after the third time tripping over tripping overall rock.
Margret huffed, "Well it's better than being completely filled in."
There were a few moments of silent walking before someone yelped, making them all jump.
“Sorry,” Max stuttered, “I think a rat went over my foot.”
Jade sighed, “As fun as this is. Yeah… fun. I don't think there's anything special down here.”
Maggie matched his disdain, “Maybe the Renegades did clear everything…”
The boys stopped and stared at her, “Hey, I went with what I heard, Ok?”
“The curiosity did kill the cat. And there is a lot that could kill you down here, at least if it's the same as when I was your age.”
The kids jumped and clumped together at the sound of the voice.
“Wha-”
“But when your daddy's heart of this, I'm guessing the monsters down here are your best bet.” The mysterious person continued, stepping into their light.
Max relaxed, “Nova,” he sighed.
“You scared us,” Sterling exclaimed, “Why the mysterious intro?”
Max answered for her, “That's just Nova being Nova.” He then turned to her, “Please don't tell my dads.”
She raised an eyebrow, “I won't. But when they check why the trespassing alert was sent to us, which is why I’m here, they will definitely find out.”
Max put his head in his hands, “Nooooo.”
Margret huffed, “Can't you just wave it away. Say it was nothing.”
Nova smiled, “I guess I could. If you do something for me.”
Max looked up quickly, “Anything. Literally anything.”
“All your Smarties.”
The four looked at the girl with wide eyes. “Like… the candy?” Jade said slowly.
Nova nodded.
The kids agreed as they followed Nova back to her car. She drove them back to the mansion, letting them out a black away so it wasn't suspicious.
“The footage is basically already taken care of, as far as anyone is concerned it was just some workers that took a wrong turn.”
The kids thanked her, she did a U-turn and yelled out the window, “I expect my candy! You can't find smarties in stores anymore!”
The kids speedwalked the rest of the way, letting out a sigh of relief when they got into the house.
“Dads, we’re home!”
There was no answer so Max went into the living room as his friends made their way to his room. Peeking his head in, he saw the Netflix stuck on the ‘Continue Watching’ and his Dad’s cuddled together asleep.
They didn't need to know. He hoped they never would.
Maggie tiptoed toward Max and tapped him on the shoulder, “We’re starting a movie in your room.”
Max turned and followed his friend, pausing outside his room. “Maggie,” she turned, “the anarchist tunnels were actually a good idea. Thanks for the spoopy experience.”
She smiled and nudged his shoulder with her own, “Oh don't be cheesy.”
This is such a great second Halloween.

Okay omg I almost forgot to post this but here’s the 14th chapter!! This one is from Nova’s POV, which is different than how we usually do things but dw itll be fun. About 1000 words. Really excited about this chapter! [Other Chapters] [AO3 Link]
Nova stood outside of the operating room Danna was in, Adrian pacing in front of her and Max leaning against the wall with a worried expression. A tearful Narcissa was the only one allowed inside, despite their protests. Ruby and Oscar had arrived moments later, having been called by Adrian, and had similar complaints.
“They’ve been in there for a while,” her boyfriend wrung his hands together nervously, “What do you think that means?”
“I think that means that Danna has been shot in the leg,” she tried to keep her voice level, “And it takes time to fix that.”
“This is all my fault,” Max’s voice broke next to her and she immediately turned to him.
“Hey, no it’s not,” she placed a hand on his shoulder, “We’re all just very relieved that you’re safe.”
Adrian mumbled something in agreement as Oscar and Ruby arrived behind them, arms full of snacks and coffee. They passed the food around, switching out Max’s coffee for a smoothie after he tried to take one. Nova shook her head when they offered her some of the food, knowing she won’t be able to eat right now.
The rest of them ate in a worried silence as Nova glanced around the hospital in an attempt to distract herself. Her eyes fell on a couple and just behind them, she saw a small, familiar figure. She squinted and took half a step forward, trying to make out who she was seeing.
“Is that,” she said aloud, “Maggie White?”
“What?” Max’s head shot up, eyes frantic, “Where?”
Nova pointed and watched as Max rushed in the direction, “Maggie?”
Nova knew that Max was friends with Maggie White and she knew that something had happened between them. She looked at Max now, suddenly reminded of the expression Adrian had worn when he had confronted her about being Nightmare. So she took a quick breath and gave Max a quick reassuring smile.
“Don’t worry,” she told him, “I got it.”
She broke into a sprint, keeping her eye on Maggie as she swiftly moved through the crowds in front of her. She just barely saw Maggie push through the revolving doors of the hospital entrance, picking up speed as she grew more determined to get to her.
When she finally pushed out of the doors as well Maggie was just a few feet in front of her.
“Maggie?”
She whipped around and froze when she saw Nova, staring at her like she wasn’t sure if she would attack.
Nova took a moment to catch her breath, “Wow, kid, you’re faster than I expected you to be.”
“I have to-” she looked at Nova like she was a ghost then repeated herself, “I have to go.”
“No, wait,” Nova took Maggie’s hand and she could feel her entire body tense under her grip, “Max needs to talk to you.”
“Did he tell you?” Maggie’s eyes seemed to be studying her face.
“Tell me what?”
“Nothing,” she glanced around in a paranoid gesture that Nova found all too familiar, “I should go.”
“Listen, Maggie,” she flinched at the use of her name but Nova ignored it, “I know what it’s like to feel like the only option you’ve got is to run. Like there is no one left in the world who cares about you. But trust me, there are other options.”
“Save the speech, will you?” Maggie rolled her eyes, “I’ve already heard the epic romance story. I get it, you and Adrian were forbidden lovers but it worked out. But this is different.”
“Is it really that different?” Nova asked, “I know you hate me but all of this? The anger, the secrets, the running? I’ve done it all before and I’m telling you, it’s not worth it.”
Maggie was silent for a moment before speaking, so softly Nova almost missed it, “I don’t hate you.”
She was confused for a moment then gave a small laugh, “Could’ve fooled me, Maggie.”
“I don’t,” she insisted, then paused, looking smaller than Nova had ever seen her, “Do... Do you hate me?”
This did nothing to help Nova’s confusion. Maggie was not someone she thought of as insecure and yet, here she stood, shoulders hunched and eyes hesitant as she waited on Nova’s answer. She opened her mouth to answer when Max ran up beside her.
“Maggie?” his voice shook with a question and Maggie’s eyes took a second to tear away from Nova to him. Her wrist was still in Nova’s grip as she shook her head at Max.
“Please, Mags,” Nova took in his expression and slowly began to understand the situation, “We can help you.”
“No, you can't,” Nova felt a strange jab of recognition, “No one can.”
She tightened her grip on her wrist and Maggie immediately turned back to her. She was not about to let another kid make the same mistake she almost made, all those years ago.
“Maggie, whatever the problem is,” she put her other hand on her arm, “it’s not going to be solved by pushing people away. Let us help you.”
Maggie looked to her hand, staring at it when she repeated her old question, “Do you hate me?”
She glanced at Max, who wore an expression she could not decipher, “Of course I don’t hate you.”
“You should,” Maggie gave a soft, dry laugh, “In fact, I should hate you.”
“Maggie-” Max’s voice had a warning in it.
“You abandoned me,” her laugh was slightly hysterical now, “You’re the reason I was forced into all those foster homes, the reason I’m so fucked up.”
“How coul-”
“But I don’t!” There were tears in her laughter now, “I don’t hate you! God, I wish I did, though. That would make all this so much easier.”
Nova’s mind was racing, “What are you talking about?”
“What am I talking about?” Maggie turned her eyes on her and she was struck once again with that strange feeling of familiarity, “I don’t think you want to know, Nova Artino.”
Then she tilted her head, considering something.
“Artino,” she spoke, “A nice enough name. Maggie Artino does have a bit of a ring to it, don’t you think? Though I suppose Maggie is not really my name, is it?”
Finally, the pieces started to click into place. She didn’t believe the thought at first, certain that she could never have gotten so lucky. She felt tears well in her eyes as she struggled to speak.
“E-Evie?”
