Top 5 comfort movies!

1. newsies (1992) - FOUNDATIONAL text for me, this is what made me create my current tumblr and it also got me into musical theatre. it's messy and kinda cheesy, but the fact that it's bad makes it even better. i love the two main characters, their homoerotic relationship, its anticapitalist themes, the side characters (even the ones that don't have any lines), literally everything. i also have a very special soft spot for sarah jacobs, whose character is very thin in the final movie, but the sarahs in the earlier drafts and the novelization live in my head rent free

2. spider-verse - the art and the storytelling are fantastic, all the little callbacks (leap of faith, etc) make me feel insane

3. the half of it - the tender way alice wu handles the characters is its main draw, and so is ellie slowly becoming less isolated and more willing to go after what she wants

4. amélie - it's french (sorry) but very charming. i'm normally not a fan of love at first sight, but amélie manages to pull it off

5. venom - i watched it with friends and it was very funny. eagerly awaiting venom 2
