that sounds nice.
Actually it is very nice. Much better than packing.

If I have to take a pic of a canvas I wait until the light is good outside and lay it on the sidewalk, then take a pic with my old SLR. Sometimes I still have to fix the image in Ps a little but mostly they're good.
hmm. I see. What’s a SLR, by the way?
my best friend and I celebrated christmas eve by taking naps with our dogs. :)

I meant to write a few paragraphs but this scene stopped me in my tracks. It's a story I've been writing for 11 years and will most likely never publish, so I don't feel too guilty. (Ironically the story is called 'Deadline'.) I mostly worked on this painting during lulls at work (there were a lot today) and whenever I was waiting for emails to load or some such (office internet suuuucks). I brought in a lot of the techniques I've recently learned from watching

Go watch 'em, they're great.
This character isn't hugely important to the plot except as a backstory but if you're gonna give someone the face of a 50's movie star it seems silly not to show it. This moment is about .5 seconds before she dies, so that's ... fun. I used my namesake, Lauren Bacall, as a model. That woman had some amazing cheekbones.
“I know exactly who you are,” Sandra said, her shoulders heaving. She lifted her gaze. Her eyes were shining a brighter gold than August’s. Her pupils were glowing embers. “You won’t take anything else from me.”
