I just read the new update and my phone almost become the victim of my excitement (luckily I was on the bed so all good 👍)
On the age choice though it says it'll be impossible for late-teen MCs to romance certain characters, does it mean we can't romance Narmer or other of the older ROs? 🥺
That aside, LOVE the update though I have only played the thief path since I am already attached to that MC! Thank you for writing this story, this is amazing 😭
Thanks for the awesome message! ^^ (take care of your phone they are so damn expensive nowadays 😭)
Yeah, about the age... Uhm, this is a bit tricky and has possible spoilers so I'll put it under a wrap.
Thing is, Narmer is 36 years old and he has an 18 year old kid, Ahmose, who is also an RO. And 'late teen' here kinda means 18-20 years old. So if you play a late teen MC, Narmer will be very weirded out because you could literally be his child and he won't understand why you wouldn't go for someone closer to your age.
BUT
I think I'm gonna put in a choice there so that you can convince him anyway. It might include a personality stat check, so if you screw it up, he will reject you. It won't be impossible, but you will definitely have to convince him.
Zaia will be fine with it, no need to convince them.
I'm not sure about Qenna yet, but I think Qenna might just outright tell you to choose someone younger.
I'm still deciding on this though, so don't take it for granted.
It will be the same the other way around. If you choose an older MC, say 35+, Ahmose won't be available to romance for the same reason that Ahmose won't even try to convince you, and you won't have the choice cuz I think that would be gross.
If you wanna be safe, go for something between 20-30. All ROs will be fine with that.
Again, I'm not 100% on this yet, but I think this might be the best solution to both stay true to my own morals and not promote unhealthy relationships ❤️
so... MCs age will not really be mentioned... since you know... she doesn't remember anything. That being said, there's an almost 10 year gap between chapter 1 and 3 (it's actually closer to 8 years, but she has a warped perception of time, and for the semi-immortal fae 1-2 years is nothing so it's generized to "almost a decade") So in order for MC to be of legal age she'd need to be around 18 in chapter 1. But again, there's a bit al leeway with the actual time spent captive. but also what is legal age in a fantasy semi medieval setting?
Edit: as in minimun age, she can ofc be older. Should I add a choice for this? I'm thinking after the "time skip" when the story slows down, I could add an option for her to look in the mirror and think she might be in her 20s, 30s or "possibly older", something kinda vague like that, but something that could also feed into her insecurities about her life between semi immortal gorgeous creatures. She might not even be that old, she could just think she must be. Ooor she could wear it proudly despite the creatures around her.
As for the ROs... I haven't given them exact ages, but you know, in the hundred thousands I'll give you oldest to youngest, surprising no one that the human is the youngest :))) let's say mid 30s. Orin is around the 100 mark. It will most likely come up in game and I'll update the intro post with the exact ages.
love IF where they focus on mc's childhood, so was wondering if there will be more of baby mc?
There's going to be plenty more of baby MC, yeah. The first third of the game will cover their development from a young child right up to a young adult!
In reference to the ask about the MC's age, I think it's interesting because I'm in my thirties, but just as much now as when I was a kid, I always felt the most comfortable with MCs between 18 and 22 years old in fiction. It seems it's unrelated to my actual age at all - which makes sense considering I strongly dislike self inserting.
Unless actively stated otherwise, I usually tend to assume my MC is in that age range to be fair.
Funnily enough, usually when I ask authors, they tell me the MC is in their "mid twenties", which means I rarely have my prefered age range either, despite younger character being more common overall than older ones. It seems my favored age range is too young!
There's quite a few YA centred IFs around so I think you're not alone in favouring younger MCs 😋 I do self-insert a lot in IF, but that's not going to stop me from enjoying an IF where an MC is older or younger than me, so long as the plot and story are engaging.
I used to write a lot of YA books, even after being in that age range, but now I look back at them feeling all sorts of cringe 😅 It's why I try to go with older MCs now and those I can relate to better.
As a Fea how long can MC live and how old are they?
Because of the human-fae intermingling in their lineage, they don't live as long as those from a "spotless bloodline", as the Courts would say. They still age slower with their prospective age easily reaching the 120 mark depending on their habits.
At the moment, the MC is only 28 years old and has just passed the threshold where their physical aging has basically stopped. Further aging would start occurring somewhere between 70 and 90, depending - again - on habits.
At least there's no fear of getting sick! Even part-fae have an impeccable immune system - As long as the Veil wills it, of course.
