[ Rye, they/them or he/him ] Welcome to the dev blog for Un/Veiled, a supernatural story where the world as you know it is about to disintegrate into pure chaos.
— How far would you go to keep the world unchanged?
Demo (dashingdon, obsolete) / Pinterest
Voit City is a city that never sleeps. The Veil ebbs and flows along the busy metropolitan streets, enveloping its more unnatural citizens in its warm embrace, hiding them from the eyes of humans. They do not know; The woman buying flowers from a ghost; the man giving out salon pamphlets to a werewolf, the two women gushing over a harpy toddler in their mother's arms. The city could never know that the supernatural — as they would call you — walk among them.
It’s just another day for you, a glorified paper pusher with a job to do. Register new Veiled into the system, and enforce the Laws of the Veil, inspect any discrepancies. It’s mind-numbing, and a Fae like you could do much better, but you’re stuck here.
Until the fateful day when the Veil falls cold, and it feels like death’s icy grasp. The warmth disappears, as does the safety you’ve known for all your life. An idyllic life comes to an end, and somewhere from the depths of the outside world, a shrill howl echoes with the promise of death and destruction.
For once in its existence, the city falls silent.
And everybody knows, that this is just the beginning of the end.
Play as male, female, or non-binary; Gay, straight, lesbian, bi/pansexual, with aromantic and/or asexual routes available.
Find out who — or what — is destroying the Veil, and hold the fate of the world in your hands.
Use your innate Fae abilities, focus on more traditional human tactics, or strike a balance between the two to keep the world from falling into despair. Or watch the Veil getting torn to shreds, if you dare.
Meet a vast amount of Veiled, ranging from vampire waiters to flower shop owning ghosts, and harpy office workers, only to name a few. Witness the horrors of a life without the Veil, where those with little control revert to their folklore origins, and turn feral.
Meet, befriend, or romance up to five different Veiled that you’re bound to bump into during your investigative journey to restore the Veil. See their struggles, and help them through their fear. Or leave them to the hypothetical wolves.
Enjoy a spaced-out customization of your character. Choose anything from their favorite drink, to their preferred mode of transport, to their feelings on the Veil.
— BEAU SULLIVAN | Werewolf
Locked outside alone with the fear of losing control
I fear I may disappear again
Heavy is the crown placed on an unwilling alpha's head. The loss of Beau's father ushered the eldest Sullivan son on the proverbial throne, and the man — despite the corny jokes and dismissal of stress — Holds the weight of the world on his shoulders. Navigating the hierarchy of the pack is a lesson learned, and to outsiders it might seem like he is the brother his pack deserves, if not the leader they need. Laughter and sarcasm hides shaky hands and an aggravated wolf, but no pain shall ever leave the privacy of his mind.

— DIAO LI "LYDIA" | Werewolf
Anger and hatred is inside my head
All because of you, mother, for you
Lydia is a fearsome sight to those who don't know her. Callous, world-weary eyes hold the intensity of the most fearsome storms, as does the smile she rarely cracks for those deserving of it. Unshakeable, Lydia is as fierce as she is loyal, her words carrying weight no matter what she speaks. But there is anger in the depths of her eyes, a rage carefully contained. Quick to lash out with claw, fang, and tongue, Lydia is someone who has seen battle, and will never hesitate to face more to keep those she loves safe, no matter what the cost.

— GRÍMR "GRIM" | Vampire
I have seen the world end
Loss of the soul is the legacy of this land
Ancient even by vampire standards, Grim has witnessed the rise and fall of numerous leaders, and fought countless wars for nearly a millennium. Facing life without an honorable death, he has accumulated a vast knowledge of the world around him while carefully guarding his heart, no emotion betraying the pain and loss he must have witnessed during his 988-year long life. Given wide berth by every known Veiled in Voit City, Grim is rarely seen within the city limits and keeps himself to the surrounding forests where he feels most at home.

— ADIV | Nephilim
Picture a wicked angel in chains
They had a legend to their name
An angel's face can be deceptive. Armed with an inherited hatred towards humans and other Veiled besides his brethren, Adiv is a troublesome man to get along with. The descendant of Raphael, a poison tongue contradicts itself with healing hands. A man with such hatred towards humankind shouldn't be a sight in a hospital, but even the most ingrained resentment can be hidden behind a mask of professionalism. As the only nephilim in Voit City, Adiv must hold the mantle of messenger for the angels, while biting back the loathing they keep teaching him with each passing comment.

— MOIRA NÍ DHÍOMASAIGH | Banshee
Like a one woman army down for peace and love
For all the ways we can be free
Few are the Fae of her kind, and Moira knows she's far from home. A banshee's life is considered the most sorrowful of the fae, their emotions constantly stained by Death lingering in the trees. For Moira, death has become a friend, and a confidant, but still her soul yearned to leave her village and settle in Voit City. The Veil softens the anguish of those around her, and now her empathy is turned to the children in her care, and the fellow banshees seeking refuge within the city. Occasionally absentminded, it's not uncommon to spot her in her own world, eyes focused on nothing at all. The death whispers, and someone must keep them company.

Thank you everyone for your absolutely lovely messages 💜 I'll keep them in my inbox because they make me smile so much, and it helps during dark times.
While Un/Veiled might've hit a bit of a snag, I haven't stopped writing. This particular world is so big and full of lore and things I have to figure out to the most intricate detail (because it's a detective game, gotta work out things to detect haha), and it needs some time to settle, if that makes sense? For pieces to find their right places, lore that's friendly in both a game aspect and real life, and that's such a massive bunch of researching I don't have the energy for right now.
BUT. There's a but.
I have tentatively stared writing another story, one that's been nagging me for quite a while. It's not as serious, or rooted in reality, so it's a great stress reliever.
Here's a hint: Ars Goetia, but with ✨flair✨
I don't know if I'll ever post it on here but it's pretty lighthearted, which is a very nice change from the heavy themes in U/V.
A... Lot has been going on. Idk if I've ever told this but I work two jobs at the moment, one as a restaurant manager and other within the navy, and it's grinding me to the ground. I have exactly 1 day off during the week and that's spent sleeping and crying, you'll know more as you read. If you don't, I get it. It's a bit of a downer post.
But working is fine! I like being a busybody, and I love working for both places. BUT.
My back/leg/hip/lumbar's given out. I don't know if it's the worst case of sciatica known to mankind or what, but it's been going on since last November and getting worse by the day. I'm 25 and looking at a future in early retirement (AT UNDER 30), it's that bad, and even worse for my psyche. Painkillers don't help (prescription/OTC, what have you), muscle relaxants don't work, physio doesn't work, one doctor even injected some cortisone for a whole separate issue and wow, surprise, that didn't work. I'm so close to going to the ER and asking for an amputation at this point.
Now, I know sharing this is kinda TMI, but I feel like you deserve a reason, the transparency why I haven't gotten around to posting lately. I've just been working (literally) through the pain, gone home, ugly cried from the agony, and passed out just to repeat the whole shebang.
And I can't not work. I'm so deep in debt, you know, in Finnish standards. I know 13k is nothing compared to some, but here it's a lot if I can't keep working.
I'm sorry for oversharing, but this is my reality right now, and I'm at my wit's end. I can't sleep, I can barely get out of bed. I can't tie my shoes. I can't pick up my niece, and I can't go out to spend time with my friends without almost overdosing on painkillers just to move. Sometimes only alcohol helps, and I don't want to do that because of the addiction running in my genes.
I want to scream and cry and leave this body for a better one, but I can't, and if this keeps going I won't be able to do anything and it scares the shit out of me.
I know the doctors are doing their best, but of course there's bias when I'm so young. We have to go through all the plausible treatments before surgery is even considered. Plus, I'm from a tiny town. Getting an appointment takes months, and then it's the same things all over again.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry for not giving you the updates you deserve. I still listen to music that inspires me, and I do write down ideas, but I can't bring myself to write more than a paragraph, once a week.
I'm sorry for not interacting or being as chipper as I usually am. It's just too much for me to handle all at once, I am but one creature.
But I'll try to keep up a positive outlook. Finland is a good country, with good healthcare, and I trust them to help me so I can keep paying taxes haha.
Sorry for a long, useless post, but you deserve to know. And maybe I needed to get it off my chest. My family is already tired of listening to me complain anyway.
Well, safe to say that this blog is turning into some sort of art blog. Nothing serious, just for me to upload pieces I’m proud of, which happens once in a blue moon.
Also pls go easy on me I have zero formal training and I haven’t drawn in eons.
Heads up if you want to follow the main blog thingy which now is both a interaction and art blog because I'm a sucker for punishment and need to overwhelm myself with different projects so my brain doesn't disintegrate into the atmosphere (plus, "yay", adhd)
Might do some stuff for the game too, maybe. Tempted for sure.
On that note, it's 8 in the morning and BOY am I in need of sleep, good night.
Today in the shower, I was thinkin about werewolf anatomy and the pain/body horror that kinda transformation would actually entail 🤔 specifically the way a humanoid skull would have to stretch into a canine shape!! So I did a little study about it c:
Should know better than to be excited for stuff, I should. Got sicker and sicker as the day went on and now it feels like someone poured bags of sand in my lungs. And sinuses. And brain. Ugh.
Haven't been sick in months but now that my last unrelated sick leave's been over for a day, I go back out there and get absolutely body slammed by a virus?
... Checks out. If it ain't the bones, it's the body.
I won't be much productive on here but let it be known that writing will still get done! Steamy scenes running as hot as my fever, and thems the facts.
I know I don't have the greatest engagement here (*sobs in being inactive for almost a year yet smothering y'all who interact with endless hugs* I'm trying to be more interactive with y'alls blogs as well! No anon messages from me no more heyoh) but here's a poll for you! Pretend we're in the ancient Roman Senate 😂 Pandemonium, I tells ya.
I'll leave the voting open for a week to get most answers, but know I have a myriad of snips of all the characters/ROs nonetheless. This is just about self indulgence, and what I should publish first since I won't have any Patreon of Kofi in the near future, and nothing will be locked behind that (Because tbh, real talk, don't think I deserve that, and y'all deserve someone who updates consistently lmaoo hello to my own 12 Patreon and 8 KoFi subscriptions 💸 Teach me your ways.) Also if you have a fav character that I should post more about, let me know in DM or asks! I'll try my best to... Prioritize. Wink wink.
What kinda of snippets do you want to see first?
NSFW snippets.
Emotional, deep, personal interactions.
Random snips from the game.
More lore. (Races? Politics? The city? The Veil?)
Deeper character profiles. (Zodiacs, temperaments, pos/neg traits, Etc.)
Other! (Please send a DM or reply! Would love to know what you want most!)
As a Fea how long can MC live and how old are they?
Because of the human-fae intermingling in their lineage, they don't live as long as those from a "spotless bloodline", as the Courts would say. They still age slower with their prospective age easily reaching the 120 mark depending on their habits.
At the moment, the MC is only 28 years old and has just passed the threshold where their physical aging has basically stopped. Further aging would start occurring somewhere between 70 and 90, depending - again - on habits.
At least there's no fear of getting sick! Even part-fae have an impeccable immune system - As long as the Veil wills it, of course.
Can you rank from least jealous to most jealous among ROs?
Can do!
The least jealous is MOIRA, which might come as a surprise! She really doesn't get jealous easily, and that's just how she is. Envious, perhaps, but that's a whole different thing.
Then we have GRIM, unsurprisingly. Again, jealousy is a forgotten emotion that he hasn't experienced in some odd centuries, but that can change when he learns complex emotions again.
LYDIA is next. She has her brief moments of jealousy from time to time, but those moments are few and far between. She's more prone to envy, but that's also a very controlled emotion.
Someone who does get jealous is BEAU, and it's no secret. It's mostly him being protective to a fault, but there's a dash of fear of abandonment in there too. Gets a bit snarly in worst cases.
And the biggest culprit is ADIV! Angels are a big reason for this since anything Adiv has ever had, achieved, or even remotely liked, the Angels have taken as their own. He does reign it in, but there's deeply imbedded insecurity when it comes to holding on to anything he receives as solely his.

The MC's most mentioned skill is their intuition, which just means their gut feeling is more prominent and accurate than that of a normal human. There's a dash of premonition in there as well, comes with the territory lol.
They can also wield magic, in the sense that magic works for their species. It's no portals or illusions per se, but more like making reactions where there could already be some. For example; making plants grow or die, agitate the air to combust, manipulate water, freeze things, thaw things, conduct electricity, controlling winds - reactions and natural phenomena that could happen anyway, but with the help of a bit of magic. Most fae are classified as nature spirits to begin with, so I'm focusing the MCs powers that way 💜
The most special skill the fae magic brings is the ability to see the Veil. While other species can sense it, they can't exactly touch it or redirect it in any capacity, they just trust it to work as it has always done. This will be pretty important once, uh, *squints at notes* everything goes to hell.
Buuuuut... Fae (and other beings attuned to magic) are heavily discouraged from using it in public unless it's absolutely, positively necessary. In worst cases it could even result in expulsion from the city.
❝ — You have to understand that the one I killed is me, changing what I was for what you wanted me to be. ❞
Alec Benjamin - If I Killed Someone For You
TW: Kidnapping, torture.
In her hands she held wrath, a spark of hatred fueling her life. Closed eyes paint a vivid image of bloodshed and rotten teeth behind smirking lips. From an artistic child grew a monster, prodded and poked with pain and harsh words to school a killer out of a human divided wolf. In time, lines blurred between beast and human; only victory mattered. From steel bars sizzling with static charge to the barrels pointed through them, a girl learned to survive by any means necessary.
Although her spirit lay broken, her instinct to protect other children that came after never diminished. She was the one to lunge, snap, and snarl whenever one of them was to be brought out, only so her captors would turn their ire on her, and not the others. She took the pain of others until one day the darkened basement flooded with flickering lights through the thick metal door. A barrel of a gun that pointed towards her captors instead of her was a change, and a brain so trained to be numb never realized she had been saved.
Ten years of dark rooms and pain ended. Lydia was brought to the light, eyes squinting at the daylight. Around her, a swarm of people, voices she never heard before, whispering. Kind eyes looked at her with worry, not malice. No rotten teeth or electric prods, but a blanket on her scarred shoulders.
Only thirteen, but already jaded to the world; that’s what she had overheard in the institute she was to stay in. White walls and white coats slowly coaxed her mind back and eased the rabid wolf still lingering beneath the surface. She slowly learned how to be an individual and stopped snapping at those trying to get close.
At eighteen, they released her. While others would think she was tossed aside once she was old enough, she was tentatively curious about the outside world. After traversing without a goal for a while, she found her way to the military, and joined a division for her kind. A place where her past actions of violence could be used for something. Many said it was misguided and a risky enlistment; still, she stayed.
Yet, if not for this decision, she wouldn’t have found the man who treated her as a sister, an equal, and never flinched at her history. Through him, she found a pack, a purpose, and those people around her slowly thawed a petrified heart and taught her that sometimes there are better things to fight for than just survival.
On the Agent:
Lydia has never met them. Then again, Lydia hasn’t met many of the denizens of Voit City, and many of the residents and species there are new to her now that her mind is her own and not clouded by a blind fighting instinct. She will be cold and indifferent to begin with, but there’s a spark of curiosity there, too; she never fought a Fae, and the magic around them smells... Safe.
Connections
BEAU
Her and Beau have known each other since she joined the army. Although he was older, and higher in rank, he didn’t look down on her and had no idea about her turbulent past. Although her aloof nature kept everyone else at bay, he never gave up on her. Slowly, she started speaking back, and such openness lead to a friendship that could weather anything the world was to throw at them. Once Beau was required to stay in the city, for his pack, she made the decision to stay as well, fully integrating into the pack as one of their own.
Can you rank from least affectionate to most affectionate among ROs?
Most definitely!
Least affectionate is definitely GRIM because he's literally forgotten how to... do that... thing. A pat on the shoulder is the most he recognizes as affection, but he can learn again. Maybe.
Next is a tie between ADIV, who sees affection as unnecessary (while still craving it cough cough) and LYDIA, who finds it scary hasn't experienced it from anyone but Beau and the children in the pack, and those children are the only ones to receive any of that affection as well.
MOIRA is affectionate, but not overly so. She's the vessel of melancholy, but still tries hard to be as affectionate as she can.
And BEAU, while a very miserable man on the inside, has so much affection to give. Definitely the best hugger to live in the city, and that's a fact.
