WWESSD Shield Thoughts (shippy/non-shippy)
I am sobbing. What an emotional roller coaster that whole thing really was. I think we got a glimpse of everything that was missing from Roman/Seth and what was frustrating Dean/audience. It was beautiful storytelling. Amazing work ethic by all 6 men involved. I am so proud of Roman/Dean/Seth for truly being the best at every single aspect of this business. They are amazing actors, amazing athletes, amazing all-round performers. They deserved to come out on top, with a meaningful story backing up their victory.
You guys, the whole Roman/Dean moment was SO IMPORTANT. It was set up beautifully, and I cannot believe that WWE for once did something different instead of their typical stupid ‘accident causing a turn’ thingy. Roman hurt his boy, his expressions told the whole story of what a huge disaster it really was. Not only for the fact that he caused physical harm to Dean, but more importantly the consequences of his accidental actions when Dean and Roman/Seth are already on thin ice. When Dean’s trust and faith is already tumbling. He knew the results could be horrid, so he did whatever he could in order to prove his loyalty to Dean. He literally looked like someone taking a bullet for their partner, or someone running in front of a car to push their partner out of the harms way. Dean’s expression were point on. He knew the weight of Roman’s actions. He knew what Roman did for him in that moment. It was like his faith was restored. He knew Roman cared. He knew he was still important. He knew he was still Roman’s puppy boy. I mean, Roman was dying in the corner. I cannot even comprehend how he got enough strength to even stand up, let alone run in front of Dean to protect him from an attack. It was the biggest gesture of sacrifice and protection Roman could offer after that accident, and it almost caused Roman his well-being. But it was fine. Cuz he was doing it for his Baby Boy. As long as Dean was okay, it was okay. DEAN was the priority. I think that is what Dean was looking for, since Roman/Seth has always been his priority.
Then, after Dean wins, he doesn’t care bout gloating. No. He doesn’t wanna celebrate. All he cares bout is his Roman. He drags himself out of the ring and go to Roman instantly, cuz now he knows. Now he knows Roman cares. Loves him. He forgives the little accident. Its strange, he’s portrayed as a lunatic but out of all he’s one of the most forgiving and understanding character out there. I mean, he’s got multiple opportunities where he could have snapped over a misunderstanding/accident, but he didn’t. Not in older days. And not until now.
Anyways, he goes straight to Roman. Picks him up. Cuz THAT is what he is fighting for. Its kind of symbolic too. He on one hand showed how whereas Roman/Seth forgot bout him last week and went on to celebrate with their titles while he was nowhere to be found, his first and foremost priority is his brothers. For him, family will always come first. Gloating is not important. Being with his brothers is what he lives for. They are his pride.
On the other hand, it shows how he acknowledged/appreciated the sacrifice Roman made for him. He expressed how he understands Roman loves him and would never hurt him on purpose and would always protect him and for that Dean is forever grateful. In a way, it was Dean’s way of showing gratitude/relief that Roman cared/loved/protected him.
The expressions on Roman’s face, pure relief. He was dying of pain, but you could see his eyes were constantly on Dean even when Seth was checking on him. You would notice how he wrapped his arm around Dean’s waist, soft eyes looking up into Dean’s like he was saying ‘I would never hurt you Baby Boy...I hope you know that...I would always protect you..You believe me right?’. And Dean had understanding/love in his. It was an absolute perfection and loaded with Ambreigns feels. I would need time to recover from that.
Onto Seth. You could see when Dean was going over to Roman, he had that smirk on his face. It was not like of relief, it was more like ‘wow, thank goodness my instincts were wrong once again. Thank goodness he loves so intensely and dearly. Thank goodness he’s still there even though I don’t deserve him. Screw that, I am gonna cherish the hell outta having my brothers back.’ And then he goes onto pick Roman up with Dean.
You would also notice how he’s not really initiating physical contact with Dean anymore when usually its him who’s touching Dean. Its like, he doesn’t wanna tick Dean off. He’s so careful. But when Dean hugs him and kisses his head, you could see how it was a moment of pure contentment for Seth.
For all three of them, this night was basically proving how the brotherhood is stronger than anything else. Their BOND matter. Over any championship/glory. For Roman/Seth, they might fuck up, but they would always, ALWAYS protect Dean. Dean’s loved, cared for and important. For Dean it was a night of finally having the reassurance he has been needing since he returned.
Also, I think when Dean’s playing into those little moments where he’s looking like he’s turning but he doesn’t, those mind games might be for audience but I like to see them as Dean testing how much Roman/Seth really believe in him. Specially Roman. Cuz Dean has proved his loyalty time to time. He wanna see if Roman/Seth would ever question that. Or would blindly believe in him like he blindly believes in the brotherhood even though he has been betrayed before.
Seth saving Dean and letting him take up the win Dean needed badly, that was beautiful. Basically the whole thing came down to one big important message, and that was ‘PROTECT DEAN’. Roman/Seth seemed like they were out there to prove something to Dean. Like they finally realized what Dean’s issue was and how faulty they were. So they put everything else on the sidelines and gave Dean what he needed. Reassurance. Protection. Care.
I dunno if Dean’s turning or not, or what their plans are for future, but so far, they have played out everything wonderfully. It has given Dean’s character so much depth and the touch of humanity WWE characters are usually missing.
Ehhm guys. I dunno how many of you notice but Drew tried to subtly cup Dean’s ass when Dolph was setting him up for their finisher. That stood up for me for some reason 🤭
Also, the Shield gear was DOPE. I think Seth looked phenomenal, absolute badass in his mask. For some reason I felt like Dean’s mask wasn’t properly worn, or at least it wasn’t comfortable, cuz Dean was constantly fidgeting with it. Roman, as usual, worked that look like a model.
Anyways, I think I am bout to write an Ambreigns fic where Dean just loves on his big dog for doing what he did, and playing Dean’s personal super hero like always. Roman’s hurting and hissing, but he’s smiling like an idiot cuz he missed having a lap full of his cuddly puppy boy who’s all soft smiles and soft eyes.
Seth's getting some of Deano too, after all he ate a superkick for his boy. I believe he’ll just want to cherish every single moment with Dean like its his last. Dean’s finally a little relaxed so Seth is looking forward to have his way with him later on 😜
