Sunset at McCarren Park
Mary Temple’s “West Wall, East Light, Morning” (2011) at Neck Road (Q) creates a soft canopy of light and shadow subtly imprinted on the station walls in hand painted ceramic mosaic. The slow reveal of trees bathed in perpetual morning light is intended to be discovered over time, on repeated viewing and at different times of day. Catch more of Temple’s trompe l’oeil light installations in “Double Sun” on the archway of Williamsburg’s McCarren Park Pool, on #NationalSwimmingPoolDay! Double Sun, a project commissioned by Department of Cultural Affairs' Percent for Art Program and the Department of Parks & Recreation, was honored with a Public Design Commission Excellence in Design Award for outstanding public art.
"As Above, So Below" // I'm so excited to finally share this piece for @archenemyarts's ambigram show, opening tonight! "Floor" can be hung in any orientation, and is a collection of some of my favorite goopslucks as of late, with a piece of paper I found in #mccarrenpark for good measure. // "Floor", 6 x 6" gouache, mixed media, and collage on panel-mounted paper, 2018. #aeajune18 #gouache #unsweptfloor #goop #taxonomies #organelles #sperm #pearls #fishhead
A tree grows in Brooklyn.
It's not every day you get hit up by a bird that needs some tee graphics and a logo. Stoked to reveal these illustrations I did for the one and only @mccarrenhawk
