Malachi is hard to draw...my design for him may change who knows.

We all agreee Malachi has horrific abandonment issues right?? right???

Like there's no way in hell he didn't experience horrible anxiety/depression when Laurance (HIS FUCKING DAD) dissapeared AGAIN...into HELL mind you...

Abandoned by his birth parents. Left behind by his adoptive parents for 15 years. Then his dad dissapears into the nether for years with no hope of seeing him again.

AND YET, I think he still speaks rather highly about Laurance. When his sisters ask about their dad whom they have never met, Malachi remembers the kind hearted and charismatic man who he met in the moving castle. The man who stayed with him when he felt utterly alone in the world. In the 15 years his parents were missing, he held onto Laurance's scarf, secretly hoping that he would return. And he still holds on to it with the hope that one day Laurance will return from The Nether.

Laurance left his sword behind for Malachi, but he chose to save it for Joey because, 1) he has no practical use for it since he doesn't really fight, and 2) Joey doesn't have anything to remember her father by so Malachi decides it will he her sword, not his.

I really wanna make a short comic about Malachi and Laurance now goddamit. Okay so yeah this was my warm up doodle for the day

DAILY DOSE OF LAURMAU FLUFF WHO WANTS ITTTTT

okay actually bawling my eyes out at aphmau coming to levin's bedside and finding him asleep, just like she would have when he was little but he's so big now. she's still his mama so she can tell he's feeling restless, so she goes to soothe him. she plays his music box, because it always makes her baby sleepy. it works, just like when he was a baby. and even though he's so big now he's still her baby. and she sits next to her baby's bedside and watches his chest rise and fall. the peaceful look on his face to his birth mother's lullaby reminds her how young he still is, even if she missed so much. he's still her baby. and she falls asleep watching him just like she used to. her little levin.

and then malachi comes back, and his brother is there and so is his mama. just like when they were little. and she's asleep on the floor, and he could never help her into bed when he was small and incorporeal but now he's big and strong and real and he can pick his mama up and tuck her into bed, just like she did for him and his brother. he resets the music box, because it always made his mama sleepy, and he sleeps on the couch, knowing his whole family sleeps with him.

levin gets to wake up to his mama next to him in the morning. gets to talk to malachi about what it felt like to wake up to his mama again. malachi gets to talk about how it felt to sleep knowing she was just in the other room, like she had been before. how it felt getting to tuck her in for once, to take care of her. how she was drooling on levin's blanket. how much they still love their mama and how much she loves them.

Random post while hiding in the bathroom at work lol

Im thinking of my mcd rewrite, and I had a whole different idea for levin and malachi.

The time skip fucking KILLS me but I dont want to get rid of it, I just feel it should happen differently.

7 year old levin 10 year old malachi, and a 7 1/2 year skip putting levin at 14 ish and malachi at 17 ish. There's just something about being 14 and traumatized that his so different. I cant put it into words.

The joy of having your mom back but not being able to connect with her despite wanting to. The anger at being abandoned but knowing it wasn't on purpose. The years of struggling. Let me make levin a little angsty shit who can't tell if he wants to fight or cry or both. It's both.

Then malachi, despite having Zoey growing up taking care of levin, always having that distance between everyone and himself from the centuries he spent alone. He knows what it's like to wait, and he'll do it again. Only think time he has a time limit. Give me malachi grappling with his mortality and struggling to balance new maturity that comes with living age and the hundreds of years of memories haunting him.

Give me malachi who's both too old for his soul and to young for his body. Give me him raising levin more and more as they grow pushing Zoey aside because hed rather focus on levin than himself.

GIVE ME APHMAU COMING HOME AND THEY BOTH ARE ALLOWED TO HAVE THE CHANCE TO LET THEIR INNER BABY CRYYY!!!

Aphtober Day 26 - “Haunt”

One of my favorite traits about Laurance is how adorable of a father he is to Aphmau’s kids <3 He’s an orphan who knows what its like, so hes always trying to take care of the kids and be there for them and make sure they’re okay 🥺🥺

For this I drew the scene in Malachi’s Moving Castle where Laurance immediately volunteers to stay behind to keep Malachi company and look after him while Aphmau and co. go search for an exorcist to free him from the mansion. I often think about how they hung out while Aph and the others were gone, maybe he tried to cheer Malachi up and reassure him that they’re gonna free him no matter what,,, he’s so soft and sweet,,, I love him being a tender dad so so so much
