    Now there was a question he’d thought about before. In general, he tried his best not to do so, but whenever the topic of humans came up he couldn’t help the way his mind wandered. He knew that his friends didn’t consider him anything other than ‘Brian’, especially the other previous humans like Polly and Vicky...and yet, that didn’t change the feeling of being comparatively ‘other’ to the rest of them.

    And yet despite that, he doesn’t have an answer. To return to humanity would mean returning to what he lost...but the things he’d lost, his parents, his little brother and sister...they had died with him, but unlike him...they hadn’t been afforded the luxury of a revival. If he tried to go back to his ‘life’ as a human...would there be anything for him to return to?

    “...nah...” he says, though there is uncertainty there. Despite the truth concoction Joy had put him under, if he himself didn’t truly know the answer, then it cannot force a truth he does not know. “ ‘M already living my best life with Vic’ and everybody else...s’no reason for me to go back”

      “Sweet! Best treated as a dessert than a meal proper — perhaps place between thin slices of whale fluke. Truly, he needs minimal treatment to be a proper meal, and there are very few ways you could go wrong. Would be best eaten fresh, as the flavor would pick up a terrible aftertaste if you permit it to sit for too long, though I would suggest finding ways to warm it up again. Chemical solutions are best, I believe, though you would wish to find one that has minimal effects upon the taste.

      If I could borrow some techniques from the land — would be a fine snack if simply placed within a mug and given a whorl of whipped cream atop. Syrups would also make a lovely addition to bring out the more obscure notes, and to admire flavors that would otherwise be hidden.

        Either eat with a long-handled dessert spoon, or within a packet. Cannot have any of it escaping, now can we?”

“Name’s Kuroba Kaito! You know, champion of the Tokyo Regional Talent Show? They did say nationals was going to be held in Osaka, right?”

Kaito wheels a bright white suitcase behind him. If a certain detective of the east were here, they might have recognized it, but Kaito was banking on the fact that the little Tantei-kun wouldn’t be in Osaka for something as trivial as a talent show (how dare that little detective think that. Sure Kaito is putting thoughts in Tantei-kun’s head but still how dare) and the white suitcase was the only one he had that was big enough to carry all his props.

It was a nation-wide event that had just capped off the regional shows, including participants from schools all over the country. Kaito had of course won the Tokyo regional show and was proudly wearing his ribbon with first prize on it into the establishment holding the national event.

Kaito doesn’t go to Osaka often. Sure there was the memories egg thing that nearly got him shot in the face and had badly injured his poor Tama-chan, but other than that he usually didn’t head to the western part of the country.

Well, as long as there’s no finny things on display, Kaito should be able to enjoy himself as he wheels his suitcase behind him. Little did he know, even if Tantei-kun wasn’t going to be present, another nosy detective would be....

Draken speaks casually to Chifuyu, though it still feels like his mind is racing just a little, even now. With everything that’s happened- the fight with Tenjiku, Toman disbanding, Emma...

...He forces himself to swallow down the tidal wave of pain that floods through him as he remembers her. But it’s so hard. The wound in his heart is still raw and gaping, and he doesn’t think it’s ever going to heal.

Chifuyu... didn’t come here to shoulder Draken’s grief, though. So he forces himself to smile, even if it’s a bittersweet one, and continues to speak- the subject matter being something he’s been quite curious about for a while, now.

“ Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude, guess you just caught me offguard. ” One would assume that the man was spellbound by the woman’s beauty, look at her, who wouldn’t be mesmerized. Though, the truth is that Higuruma was distracted by her eyes. 

That focused gaze, trying to find ways to profit from people or a situation. The lawyer has seen many of those types of eyes on his clients. It isn’t anything new, avarice is extremely common in his line of work, that alone didn’t really speak about one’s character.

What caught his attention was that... there was something quite enigmatic about her eyes, as if she had something much deeper hidden beneath her elegance and good looks. “ What do you mean by... examining me? If you don’t mind me asking... ”

With a sigh, Renji plopped down onto the pillow with a soft thud. He felt so useless and weak, achieving absolutely nothing holed up in this bed while everyone else was fighting their battles outside. It felt like he was being protected and sheltered, and while he knew that wasn't the case, he couldn't help but feel like he was being held captive. For his own protection.

He reaches up, his hand outstretched, the ceiling seemingly so far away from where he lay. Turning his head to the side, he glances at Hisagi.

"Thank you.. Hisagi-san." His voice comes out soft, almost a whisper. He's ashamed that he'd end up in this state, especially during such an important time. "If it weren't fer ya, I think I'd be dead meat by now."

. It has been a good day. Mayuri-Sama has had a breakthrough in a certain advancement and she was praised for her usefulness. She is always practical and measured in her speech and manners. But she cannot help but hope for a daughter to return.

. "I do not have the capacity for blind optimism- but I am hopeful. I believe that I am more like Mayuri-Sama in that regard," she admits quietly. "I thought it would be unlikely that Kusajishi-San will not return. She is the president of the Shinigami Women's Association, after all."

Oh, it's one of those things he didn't like to think about, much less talk about. And he'd thought about it more than he cared to admit, not that he ever came up with an answer.

"... Consider it? Yeah, I'd consider it. But I don't think I could even if I wanted to. How I left is still gonna be on my record, even if I resigned before they started investigating me, and I'd rather work at McDonald's than have to answer questions about that mess all over again."
