The thing about Billy and queer representation in the MCU
(May contain AAA 1x06 spoilers)
The episode with Billy’s backstory was extremely important for the development of the narrative, and his scene with his boyfriend was cute af.
It’s beyond important (even though it’s been a long time coming) to have all kinds of queer representation. Finally we have openly gay characters, especially without the need to make it all about their coming out.
It is definitely a win.
HOWEVER
The series is called Agatha All Along, so I can’t help but feel a little neglected - especially after that shitty article by Out Magazine, as if Billy was the only queer character of the story.
Agatha showed up first. Her hints came first.
If they are saving the best (Agathario) for last, and we have at least as many kisses, then I’d be ok with this.
The only thing I don’t want is that the only action in queer representation we get is mlm, because Agatha and Rio’s relationship is too strong to be only innuendos.
We do want to see the gays winning. But we also want us lesbians to win. And we never win. Gay men always come first, and my annoyance is that they’ve “crossed the finish line” first… again.
So yeah… that’s it.
And lemme just take the opportunity to praise Kathryn’s acting skills in 1x06. She was BEYOND excellent. Just give this woman an Emmy RIGHT NOW.
