Genuinely curious about the thought process behind a “resurrection” counting as half a death??? And are there other “partial deaths” that are possible??? What do you have to do to kill off a quarter of a character?

Frankly, not trusting me is a safe bet.

But I call it half a death because at the moment he is taken out of the story, everyone assumes him to be dead, and it’s intentionally written that way. That way, when we later find out about his coming back, it’s a surprise and a twist. I’d call a quarter of a death like... loss of limb or something? I dunno.

Basically I wanted to count his death but he comes back so I thought “yeah, half dead sounds reasonable” and I ended up confusing a lot of people XD

Could a character have PTSD induced by experiencing a traumatic event in which the trauma is then "relieved" very shortly after the event? In this case, Character A believes that they saw their close friend killed during a battle. The friend is then revealed to be alive within a short period of time (minutes after the event). Would this potentially be enough to induce the diagnosis criteria of PTSD? And would this be made worse if the friend continued to go into dangerous situations?

Witnessing someone else threatened with death (especially violently) is sufficient to count as a traumatic event under the DSM-5 criteria. So the character doesn’t even have to believe the other person has died - it would still fulfill that criteria.

As for your second question, seeing their friend going right back into dangerous situations would likely cause a significant amount of anxiety and distress.

Tumblr Handle Story! (Tag Game)

Thanks for thinking of me, @chanting-to-u​! I have a bit of a story behind my tumblr handle, though it’s not all that interesting I’m afraid.

It started off with a dream, or rather, the lack of remembering my dreams most of the time. I often wake up knowing I had a dream about something cool or interesting, but not knowing what. I wish, in these instances, that I could remember, so play on words.

Also, the dreams I do remember are often very weird and make great short stories or scenes. In one recently I literally wrote a poem and managed to remember enough to write it down.

So, some inspiration comes from dreams, but mostly, I choose the name “dreamwishing” because I wished I could remember my dreams!

NaNoWriMo Tag Game

I was tagged by @incandescent-creativity! Thank you so much!

1) What’s the title of your novel?  The Lost Crown is the working title, though I’m also currently playing with the idea of calling it Princeboy.

2) Is this a new project or an old project? This is a new project, and my first novel!

3) What genres does your story fall under? Fantasy

4) Describe your plot in one sentence: An orphan travels to another universe, discovers he’s a prince, and seeks out his father, while trying to stop a war.

5) What’s the protagonist’s name? His name is Jackson.

6) Describe him in three words: Gay, proud, threatened

7) What book is your story similar to? I haven’t really thought about this one.

8) Which one of the story’s characters do you want to meet most in real life? I have to say Jackson, honestly. He’s just misunderstood and really just needs a nice group of friends and a big hug.

9) What are your plans for this novel? I’m not sure. For now, the writing of it. Possibly eventual publication.

10) On a scale of 1-10, how excited are you for your book? An 8 or 9. I’m excited, but also kind of nervous. I’ve never taken on a project this large, but I’m ready to hit it head on.

Is there a preference on glove color and/or material?

i do lean toward the black gloves edgy but honestly any gloves/material will do. fingerless gloves are also a worthy offering. all the gloves.

So you run writeblrconnects, which I imagine takes up a ton of your time. How do you balance all the awesome work you do for the writeblr community with your own writing?

Really it just comes down to scheduling time for everything. And to a certain extent, running write-ins for WC actually gives me focused time for my own writing. Plus I don't necessarily do EVERYTHING for WC anymore--I've had some awesome folks who have volunteered to help out, which has really enabled me to keep expanding WC too.

I'm so glad to hear that :) What are your long-term writing goals?

Well, if we're talking VERY long term: publication through the traditional route. But, not quite as long term as that, I'm planning to shop my manuscript Rose of the Fae in the late Spring. Other than that, I just want to see where the writing road takes me

Ooh that's exciting! I wish you luck with querying. Do you have an excerpt of anything you would like to share?

I'm afraid not. But, for anyone who might be interested in beta-reading, Rose of the Fae is a Beauty and the Beast retelling that digs into the faery lore behind the original fairy tale. And "Belle" is a modern university student studying abroad in France in an effort to cope with her mental health issues.

Also, if anyone wants more info for beta-reading (or critiquing or manuscript swapping) purposes, they're MORE than welcome to message me. I tend to be a bit private with works that I plan on seeking representation for but I'm always happy to chat one-on-one!
