Atsv would have been better if we saw more than one dimension collapsing. At least one collapsing because of a break on the canon because an anomaly tore its way through the universe's fabric, and then later Gabriella's dimension dying because of Miguel
Otherwise the movie settled up Miguel to be not only blatantly wrong but also blind– which I get from a writer's perspective, but...
I still think he was right to a point. I understand why he acted the way he did– grief, guilt, accountability, responsabilty...
But imagine the scene, yes? It starts introducing a normal Peter Parker variant dimensions, something tiny goes wrong with canon– Gwen doesn't die, MJ dies too young, Uncle Ben never says the words...
Or maybe the interference of a hero from the Spider-Society, trying to capture an anomaly, disrupts the canon and that dimension simply vanishes. If we could have seen the Spider-Man from this dimension trying to save a kid, mirroring Miguel scene with Gabriella, simply and easily turning into pixels
And that being why Miguel and co. monitore the canon so closely at the start of atsv
It would have made the stakes higher if we could have seen Miguel being right
