Meadow Pollack and Joaquin Oliver were friends, they would always sit at the same lunch table together with their friends and Joaquin's girlfriend and followed each other on Instagram.
When the shooter started shooting on the third floor, Joaquin and Meadow tried to hide in the girls bathroom together but it was locked. They then tried to hide back in their classroom but neither could get the door open.
Joaquin was hit in the knee and hid by the boy's bathroom while Meadow was separated from him in the chaos.
Meadow tried to save a freshman girl named Cara and played dead. But they were shot and killed anyway.
Joaquin heard his friend's murder and that he was going to be killed next. Joaquin had two Valentine's cards pinned to his shirt, one was from Meadow and the other was for his girlfriend Tori.
They were seventeen years old.
