The Gluttons of Black Citadel, Pere PoisonMaw (Left) and Grana Guzzlemaw (Right) are two sisters known for their massive appetites. Grana can outdrink an entire warband, and Pere can eat enough in one sitting to feed a squadron for a week.
To the outside world, Grana is a traitor to the Iron Legion. Kicked out at a young age, she is now a gladium who works for the Jackdaw Pirates. This is a cover. In truth, Grana is an Ash Legion spy, who disrupts the Jackdaw’s operations and gathers information by out drinking her peers. She is highly interested in joining the Order of Secrets, which she’s heard snippets of during her travels.
Pere is a Blood Legion soldier, and a good one at that. She’s quite agile for her size, able to plow through enemies and cut them down before they’ve realized what’s happened. During missions and other formal events, she hides her size behind heavy armor. However, she still receives a large amount of flak from commanding officers for being “out of shape”.
When alone, the two are model soldiers. When together, they can cause trouble to no end.
Event idea: The Festival Heist
Grana’s credibility has been waning with the Jackdaw’s. She needs her story to be sung at the bars by the bards and scalds. At the same time, she needs to make sure whatever she does doesn’t get her into too much trouble. A small bit of burglaring at a big event might do.
After convincing her sister to join the heist, the two have decided to steal all the booze and meat from an ongoing festival. While the food and drink is free, taking all of it will cause such a fiasco as to be legendary.
The event is made up of three parts
Part 1: Knick it and Run!
-Not having much time to actually plan the heist, the two sisters the two sisters have simply decide to grab as much food and drink as they can and run. The two sisters start at a proper location, before splitting up and running off. Player Characters have to chase after the two sisters, dealing enough damage to cause them to drop their loot and abscond before the time limit finishes.
Both sisters have a different set of abilities.
Pere is found carrying a bundle of meat. She is faster and has more HP than her sister, however doesn’t have as many offensive abilities to protect her. If too many PCs surround her, she will perform a swirling attack, which stuns nearby PCs for a small amount of time, allowing her to run off with the goods.
Grana is found carrying a few barrels of ale. Periodically, a barrel will fly off her person, aimed at the largest grouping of PCs. If a PC is hit by the barrel, they will suffer from the drunk condition making it more difficult to follow Grana. Ale drips behind her, causing mud to form and slowing down PCs.
Upon reaching the time limit, the successful sisters will gloat and disappear. If one sister is defeated, the other will comment on how they might have failed. But at least *** got away. If both sisters have been defeated, they will curse the players and disappear in a cloud of smoke.
Part 2: Raiding the Pantry.
This event will only occur if part 1 is completed. Otherwise, the sisters will be off enjoying their spoils.
Having failed to collect enough goods, the two sisters will attempt to sneak several boxes of food out of the city. PCs will be tasked with finding several boxes and other foodstuffs in a scavenger hunt-style minigame. The items being collected should either be a weak foodstuff (see cotton candy, candy cake, etc) or a small item with minor xp gain (similar to bag of loot, casino token, etc).
Success sees the two sisters gloating over their well-earned victory. Failure sees them cursing the PCs for their victory.
This event will only occur if part 2 is completed. Otherwise, the sisters will be off enjoying their spoils.
Tired of the PC’s interference, the two sisters have now decided to take more drastic measures. Namely, beating the PC’s senseless. The two sisters charge the PCs to fight them in a large open area. PC’s have a set amount of time to beat both sisters. Failure leads the two sisters to claim victory and disappear. Victory causes the two sisters to give up, and to be Merchant NPCs until the local authorities come and take them away.
Due to Grana’s influence with the Ash Legion, she is able to minimize the damage that the failure costs them. Grana “escapes” from jail, while her sister is forced to do community service to pay for the meat she stole.
COMBAT: The sister’s fighting styles complement each other, making the two a fearsome foe to face. Grana focuses on ranged attacks, while Pere tanks damage and attacks in melee range.
Beer Swig: Should the PCs take too long to defeat her, Grana will take a swig of beer, healing HP and buffing herself.
Barrel Throw: Grana throws a barrel of beer at ranged opponents, causing the drunk status effect and moderate damage.
Pistol Power: Grana focuses fire on nearby enemies, strafing away from melee range. Deals moderate damage.
Sticky Soda: Grana throws a barrel of soda at her opponents, dealing minor damage but immobilizing them on a hit.
Belcher’s Bluff: If too many opponents swarm Grana, she will let off a massive belch, knocking PCs away and poisoning them.
Meat-Eater: Should the PCs take too long to defeat her, Pere will gobble down a roast of meat, healing HP and buffing herself.
Body Slam: Pere launces herself into the air, slamming down on large swathes of PCs, knocking them back and dealing massive damage.
Spit Stab: Pere launches herself at opponents with her weaponized kabob. Dealing moderate damage.
Whirling Drumstick: Pere whirls around like a top, knocking opponents to the ground.
Belly Bounce: Pere throws her weight around, forcing opponents away from her, dealing minor damage and stunning PCs.
Grana: Grana is not too happy that you’ve beaten her, and will mostly keep quiet, cursing the PC. Should the PC threaten Grana (Intimidate) then she’ll reveal that she’s working for the Black Citadel. Charr of the Ash legion can reveal that she’s “one of them”, while members of the Order of Whispers can find out she admires them and is willing to divulge everything she knows for a chance to work for them.
Grana’s Brew: A hearty drink that Grana made herself. She’s been testing it on herself in order to strengthen her resolve.
Grana’s Tincture: A mixture of coal, anti-venom, and other fowl ingredients. If ingested, it will dispel any drunken effects the character is suffering.
Grana’s Cider: A recipe offered by Grana. A heavy Cider which provides a number of benefits and drawbacks.
Grana’s Pistol: A strange looking pistol provided by Grana. It looks to be hobbled together with string and tin-cans.
Pere: Pere is rather good-natured, believing the whole event to be just a bit of fun. She’ll gladly speak with any PCs who talk with her, telling them about her warband, her past, and other interesting tid-bits.
Pere’s Mystery Meal: A hearty meal which slows down the PC, however it stacks various buffs.
Meatoberfest T-Shirt: A T-shirt which reads Meatoberfest’s biggest fan. This skin covers another armor, though drapes over the character like a long coat.
Meatoberfest Special Sause: A recipe offered exclusively by Pere which she won after winning the meat-eating competitions back in Butcher’s Block.
Meatoberfest Skewer: A special skin for the sword, which makes it look like a rapier draped in meat.
Grana is an excellent character, and despite the fact that she only appears as a small-time character in the Order of Secrets’ storyline, she’s still one of the most memorable characters in the Chapter 4 storyline. The fact that One-Drink Drake managed to reappear, but that she’s confined to the dustbins of GW2 history is criminal.
It didn’t make sense simply bringing her back (the PCs would simply kill her and be done with it), so I decided her best chance at coming back would be as a Ash Legion spy. Likewise, it makes sense, as she’s able to hold her liquor better than any of the other Jackdaws, and could squeeze them for information after she’s properly liquefied them.
Pere isn’t technically an established NPC, but she’s not an Original character either. Her design is based off an NPC found in Butcher’s Block during Meatoberfest. At the event, there is a Female Bottomless-Stomach charr who begs for more food, despite being so full that they’re unable to move. Even after giving them more food, they say that they want to eat more, prompting the character to tell them that “They have a problem”.
Note: The picture of Divinity's Reach used behind the two sisters was taken from a Kotaku Article and edited. I need to work on my backgrounds, however now is not the time. Just as a side note.
