Top Coat, Top Hat
Pairing: Greedlerbot/Onciebot (Botcest) Summary: In his defense, it was a very nice hat. Notes: 30 Day OTP challenge. Day 6. Wearing each others clothes. Because Onciebot wearing Greedler’s hat is pretty much the cutest thing ever (and Sunny has a thing for clothing swap and this pairing).
Sometimes, Onciebot likes to steal his hat.
The first time Greedlerbot had noticed was just after the younger robot had been booted up for the first time. He’d accidentally forgotten his hat in the basement after carrying the newest member of the household upstairs and been too busy dealing with the ensuing mess of magical shenanigans, transformation fits, and a very confused Onciebot to go back for it. By the time everything had settled down, the hat was nowhere to be found and Greedler resigned himself to having to make a new one.
At least until he’d entered the kitchen to find his new compatriot seated at the kitchen table attempting to reassemble a clock, Greedlerbot’s hat perched jauntily atop his head. The younger bot had jerked slightly in surprise when Greedler had stolen it back, giving him a nervous smile and apologizing for taking it.
"I was going to give it back, but I forgot," he’d told his older counterpart, who had just shrugged as he shoved it back onto his own head, heading over to the stove to start making dinner for Steam (and probably Crud too).
A few days later, Onciebot had tottered carefully into the sitting room, carrying a stack of books to read. Used to the younger bot’s quiet past time, nobody had really noticed anything amiss until Crud had started chuckling quietly, causing Steam to glance up at him and then to the newest member of his household.
"Isn’t that…." the inventor had began, fighting down a grin. "Greedler’s hat?"
Onciebot peered at them over the top of his book, before moving his gaze up to stare at the brim of the hat sitting once again atop his head. “….oh….” he murmured, as if just noticing it. “Right….I forgot…”
He made no move to take it off though, instead choosing to go back to his reading, so the humans had let it go (though not before exchanging amused looks over the event).
And so, the younger bot’s peculiar habit had continued with Onciebot taking any and every opportunity to filch the hat from wherever Greedlerbot had happened to set it down. It got to the point that when the hat disappeared, the older bot would hunt out his counterpart rather than the hat itself. He never said anything about the event, choosing instead to just click his throat in an annoyed gesture as he took back his possession.
Onciebot would just smile and apologize, making no move to fight him. The hat was, after all, not actually his. It didn’t stop him from continuing to take it though, and Greedlerbot wondered if he was going to have to glue the damned thing to his head to keep the other bot away from it.
"If it really bugs you that much, you should just say something," Crud told him one day as he passed through the kitchen to find the robot clutching his hat and grinding his teeth together as he debated setting it on the counter while he put away dishes.
"…say…something…" Greedlerbot parroted back, frowning. "Should…..not have to….mine."
"Yes, but he’s basically the equivalent of a child right now right?" The human had pointed out. "You have to tell kids when they’re doing something wrong or they won’t realize it."
"Won’t realize…wrong?"
"Yeah," Crud agreed, taking a plate from him to put a few sandwiches on. "It’s either that or he’s trying to get you to notice him. Don’t worry. I’ll wash this," he added at Greedlerbot’s annoyed look.
”..you…better. Trying to get……to notice him?”
"Well yeah, the kid follows you around a lot, right? And, admittedly, part of that is probably because he’s still trying to learn how to do things, but I’m pretty sure most of it is just him wanting to be friends."
"Friends….?"
"Or more," Crud added with a shrug as he picked up his plate to leave the kitchen. "I’ll bring this back when I’m done, promise."
"More," Greedlerbot repeated. "Friends…" He turned back to stare at his hat with a curious look, before setting down his drying towel to pick it up, carrying the hat out of the kitchen and into the sitting room.
Onciebot glanced up from his book briefly to give him a smile before going back to reading while the other bot stood in the doorway, fiddling with the hat in his hands. He nodded once to himself before stalking across the room and shoving the hat down onto the younger bot’s head.
"Friends," he stated, before turning on his heal and heading back to the kitchen to continue drying dishes. Onciebot stared after him with a startled expression, before tilting his head back to stare at the brim of Greedlerbot’s hat with a smile.
"Thank you," he said, reaching up to adjust the hat so that it wouldn’t fall over his eyes before going back to reading.
prayer circle that Greed-lerBot's okay
does this count as pop-art
i love steamcest ok
Basically all of Steampunk, from the beginning to the present.
(You can tell I slowly got lazier with coloring it as my hand started cramping no matter how many breaks I took.)
Anyway~!
It's finished, and I am so happy! Here is my Steamcest comic based off the recent events in the ask-steampunk-onceler blog. :3
colored! :D
(and this time i am tagging it with "steamcest" -- even though Oncie isn't in the photo -- because i want more people to see it. ;w; )
