I watched the ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Commission, to avoid confusion with other news agencies with same abbreviation) coverage of the opening of the Ram Mandir tonight (22nd January 2024).

The ABC coverage did not once mention that Ram Mandir is built on the site Hindus believe to be the birthplace of Rama. That this site is one of the most sacred sites in Hinduism.

If I had not followed this story over several years through other sources & just got my insight from that one news story, I would be under the impression that rabid Hindus destroyed a mosque for no reason & built a Hindu Temple on top of the mosque site for no reason other than to hate on Muslims. People who watch that story with no prior knowledge will be under the impression that the Babri Masjid mosque was built on a completely greenfield site. They would have no idea that it was built on the site of a pre-existing Temple to Rama. That the Mughal Empire destroyed an actively used Temple for the religion that their native subjects practiced, so as to put a structure of their own introduced faith on top of that site.

The way the ABC framed that story wasn't balanced. They could have mentioned the sites sacredness to Hinduism whilst still talking about the riots that killed thousands started by Hindus. Neither Hindus nor Muslims were saints in this, nor were either wholly bad, but you wouldn't know that from the way the story was framed.

I find it interesting that the blog took it as the sun trying to pressure him to come out but i actually took it as them wanting him to shoot down the queer rumors especially since Wattpad man has been up larries’ asses like its his calling in life

I think the way they phrased it was meant to be ambiguous. This was for The Sun, and they know the topic of his sexuality is one of the hottest topics regarding Harry, so by phrasing it that way they could create the most buzz (and clicks) bc it would create the most debate. And it did. This is from an interview from May 2017. It's 4 years later and people are still arguing about it.

Whether their intention was to out him and get that exclusive, or to shut down queer rumors we can't know for certain. But I'm pretty sure that what they cared the most about was creating the most buzz for their site.

Personally, I don't think his team would have wanted queer rumors completely squashed. Even tho we've had beards and stunts since, to me it seems clear his team has been working very carefully to shift his image and place him in the LGBTQ+ community. And if we're taking that into account, then this interview was pivotal in doing that. It was his first solo interview where he mentioned anything related to sexuality, so in a way it spearheaded this sort of ambiguous and gender-bending image he's had in the media over the last few years.

And regardless of nitpicking the wording of a print article in THE SUN (not really a place for reliability now, cmon), I think looking at the overall message of this segment is a better approach. And that includes considering the context. No matter how the question was framed, he was not going to come out then. So all he could say as a closeted person was that what his sexuality is, what his label is, ins't something he ever "felt the need to explain about himself". Which just means he doesn't wanna talk about it to the press.

I found a place worse than tumblr for AAs and minions: twitter. The bitterness, delusion and anger is unbelievable. If I was a celebrity, I would never, ever want a social media account of any kind. Jared gets so much hate from both sides, hopefully he is laughing his way to the bank. Or crying....

If you want to be a celebrity and get jobs, having SM accounts is a must.  Nowadays an agent or producer may not hire you unless you have at least 50,000 followers.  The EW article mentioned the total twitter followers of Jared, Jensen, and Misha combined.  My 15 years old neice is tall and a modeling agency almost signed her up until they asked her about her Instgram account.  She doesn’t have one because she doesn’t want one, she was immediately shown the door.

It’s not the hate from certain loud fans that gets to celebrities, it’s the media bias and narratives.  Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off wasn’t about hate from fans of her rivals, it was about her critics in the media.  Michael Jackson’s Just Leave Me Alone was about negative rumors of him in the media and tabloids. 

Trust me, Jared and the rest of the cast are laughing all the way to the bank.  Come on, every high tier celebrity gets hate, the louder (not more) hate they get, the more fanatical their fans get and the more they get elevated by said fans.  Jensen gets the shoddiest treatment from the SPN fandom so I really can’t blame the AAs  for having hard ons for the “golden boy” lore, but I am endlessly tickled by their obsession over Jared and his fans.  The minons are just sad.
