It's not uncommon to see posts on social media advocating for the idea that adults should be able to enjoy things that are not necessarily intended for their age group. Many people find comfort and enjoyment in hobbies and media that are often associated with children or younger audiences. However, it's important to remember that there are certain lines that should not be crossed when it comes to consuming media.
For example, it's one thing for an adult to enjoy a show like Pokemon or Gundam, which may be marketed towards a younger audience, but are still enjoyable for people of all ages. However, it's quite another thing when someone is actively shipping a 40-year-old man with a child character from a show like Sophia the First. This is not only inappropriate but potentially harmful to the young audience that the show is intended for.
As adults, we have a responsibility to consume media in a responsible way and to consider the impact that our actions may have on others. While it's okay to enjoy things that may be considered "childish" by some, it's important to draw the line at behavior that can be harmful or inappropriate. We should strive to create a safe and respectful online community where everyone can enjoy their interests without causing harm to others.
Choices
I am frustrated with choices. I am talking about podcasts, online articles, and streaming services. I wish I could consume all these good online content that would enrich me but I think my brain will just implode from the effort. I will have to pick and choose what’s most relevant and important to me for the moment. For instance, Netflix has actually made it harder for me to pick a show to watch; all the thumbnails are beautifully created and curated to lure me into scrolling through the menu for hours. I have hardly listened through an entire album on Spotify for the same reason. I will just have to face my human limitation and work out a better way in my media consumption.
What show did you last watch? What book did you last read?
I absolutely do not have Good Omens playing in one tab, while I read Good Omens in another tab. I would never do something like that. No, of course not.
