Je toto alegorie na mor? Nebo jsem to nakreslili jen pro srandu králíkům? Je to na vás!
Some old concept art for my own fantasy setting. I have several names for it, but none of them can be considered anything more than a placeholder name. Some call it "Teklaverse", from the name of one of the characters populating it. Others call it Rainverse, from my username. I usually use the "Enter Selfscape: World After Glory" name, that was partially suggested by @jaegershund. MOSTLY jokingly, because of how ridiculously-sounding it is. These are soldiers/warrior elite from a nation composed mostly of Scamps/Fiendlings/Devilings - basically, goat people. Kinda. Generally speaking.
They jump good, shoot bow good, sit in fortress in mountain. They value patience, self-improvement, and order. And they are DEFINITELY NOT just a stand-in for generic fantasy dwarves. Definitely. Not dwarves. Nope.
It's an old drawing, but one I still very much like looking at. It's a very good example of my love for the medieval (broadly speaking) aesthetic, and the fondness for historically-inspired military equipment mixing with my other interests - fantasy media, wargames, weapons and armor, etc. Oh and anthropomorpthic animals. Or furries. Yeah better expect lots of furries from this account. I'll have to revisit these guys soon, they deserve it.
Not a whump post but I’m gonna infodump for a moment about some research — specifically the castle that the imperial palace in For His Kingdom is based on! I used Malbork Castle in Poland for it, pictured below:
The main entrance would lead across the river (in my story, it is smaller and more of a moat), with the main castle keep being huge and impressive while much of the city would be across the moat where Cinn would be able to see it from his cage on the outer wall of the keep.
This palace is really cool, as it has a whole heating tunnels system to keep it warm rather than relying only on fireplaces! Interestingly, it was originally built for the Teutonic Order of the Crusades so it has a somewhat unusual layout but it was later a residence of Polish kings and is still the largest castle in Europe!
Here’s some great shots of the courtyard of the main keep, the equivalent of which is where Cinn would have been whipped:
Also note the wide space in the left of the second image at the top, as that is a key location for the next installment of the story, being where wagons/carriages/etc. would be prepared as well as being where much of the daily activity of the palace would occur.
Of course, the red brick isn’t quite the aesthetic I wanted, and that was taken from the imperial palace of the Hapsburgs (left) for the exterior and inspired by medieval cathedrals and the Munich Residenz (right) for the interior:
I needed to verify the layout for the next chapter since a lot of it takes place outside the handful of smaller parts of the castle I’ve been focusing in so this infodump is the result. I hope it’s enjoyable even if it’s not the usual for this page!
I don't like that Rhaenyra's dress was white when she married Laenor because there was no reason to. From what I remember, they were not supposed to get married yet, it was just an announcement and celebration of their betrothal. They only had to get married then because of what happened with Criston and Joffrey causing panic and also resulting in Joffrey dying (from what i remember).
Not to mention, even if it was their actual wedding, medieval weddings didn't typically have the bride dressed in white, that was something that came about in the victorian era, with Victoria popularising it. Before that, brides typically wore their best dresses, and for a princess like Rhaenyra, that would mean going all out to show off your wealth with colour and jewellery.
All that is to say, I wish Rhaenyra had a black dress to contrast with Alicent's green dress, and to make more sense of how the two sides were created in their world. It would make sense that she also wears the colours of her house. She's supposed to be the heir, so she represents the very house of Targaryen, and the best way to show that is through her clothes, through the colours of the house (black and red).
Away from the colour of the dress, I don't like the hairstyle. It's obviously fake, Rhaenyra has never been shown to have thick enough hair to pull off that hairstyle. I like the red jewels put in the hair, but the hairstyle itself needs a change. They could've just kept the braid without that top part, and maybe have Rhaenyra wear a crown instead to symbolise to the court that she's the crown princess no matter who she marries (image is important, especially through appearance, even now. Already emphasised).
All this to say, the show fucked up.
