The Top 10 Pokémon Pets of 2025!
It’s been another huge year for this blog, as we’ve continued to work our way through the ever growing pokédex in pursuit of the best possible pokémon to adopt as a pet. As is customary, I’m wrapping up the year by revealing what, according to my score-giving algorithm, were the top ten pet candidates of the year!
As a rule, I will not be including Legendary or Mythical pokeémon in this list, even if they made the top ten, simply because it is impractical to recommend someone adopt a one-of-a-kind, culturally iconic creature as a pet. That being said, I will include any of them as honorable mentions before revealing our top pet of the year.
With all that said, let’s get right into it with #10!
#10 - Chikorita
💬 0 🔁 21 ❤️ 90 · hi there i would like to humbly request one (1) chikorita analysis please, it is my favorite [I scheduled chikorita to b
Calm, easy to train, and bringing self-healing and soothing scents to the table, chikoritas are great options for Grass-Type fans out there. So long as one is able to provide them with a warm and sunny place to sunbathe, these easy-going pokémon make great companions!
#9 - Murkrow
💬 0 🔁 19 ❤️ 55 · Either Murkrow or Honchkrow? Do you think either bird would be a good friend? I know they're dark type but still, they co
A surprise top-ten placement for the oft-maligned Dark-Type, murkrows make great companions for night owls with giving personalities. These nocturnal pokémon love shiny things, making them easy to please and to train. Just keep them away from honchkrows, lest they live you to join a feathered gang of ne’er-do-wells!
#8 - Sentret
Sentret Link
This is one that I covered pretty recently, surprising me with a top-ten ranking. While their naturally pack-oriented behaviors and propensity for making a lot of noise in the night may make them an acquired taste, sentrets are peaceful, social critters that would make a great pal for those with the patience to manage their anxieties.
#7 - Solosis
💬 0 🔁 19 ❤️ 66 · Post by @would-this-pokemon-be-a-friend · 1 image · hi!! can u do reuniclus or maybe any of the reuniclus line? i luv tha
Soloses are hardy, peaceful pokémon, whose telepathic abilities may allow them to form particularly strong bonds with humans and other pokémon. They may be a bit…strange looking…for some owners, but trust me, they would make for a great companion that is quite easy to care for and understand.
#6 - Meditite
💬 0 🔁 16 ❤️ 48 · Meditite? A meditite would indeed make a pretty good pet, so long as you aren’t looking for a pet that’s going to want t
Small and easy to care for, meditites are far less of a handful than most Fighting-Type pokémon I cover on this blog. They only eat a single berry a day, after all. They also…don’t do much; they spend most of their time meditating in silence. So long as you don’t mind having a pet that’s a little less social than most, a meditite is a great option for you.
#5 - Sprigatito
💬 0 🔁 16 ❤️ 74 · Oh hey! It's open again! Now, I think Sprigatito would be a perfect household Pokémon, wouldn't you agree? By complete c
It’s a pet candidate so nice, I did a post about them twice, which was completely on purpose and not a complete brain-fog oversight, trust me! Sprigatitos came so close to the “basically a cat” ranking, which along with their small size makes them a great option for Grass-Type fans. While we don’t know much about their reported “mesmerizing scent”, their role as first partner pokémon, like chikorita, puts them in good standing for even young owners around the world.
#4 - Mime Jr.
💬 0 🔁 20 ❤️ 57 · Have you done Mime Jr? If not, I'd love to hear how the little mime child fairs as a pet! I’ve got great news for you! A
Social and easy-going, Mime Jr. are a great option for any owner who doesn’t mind having a little shadow mimic them day in a day out. If you believe that mimicry is the sincerest form of flattery, than look no further than this friendly little clown!
#3 - Flabébé
💬 2 🔁 18 ❤️ 85 · how would a teensy weensy 'mon like flabébé work as a pet? Finally, some good news! A flabébé would indeed make a pretty
Teensy-tiny and easy-to-please, flower-loving flabébé are great options considering their ability to sustain themselves (not to mention heal others) through symbiosis with their chosen flower. And boy, are they cute!
#2 - Comfey

In the #2 spot we have another floral Fairy-Type, honestly quite similar to the one before it. Comfeys are friendly, gentle pokémon whose excellent smell has both calming and healing properties for those around them. So long as you can provide them with fresh flowers on a regular basis, comfey are easy to care for and can serve as lovely companions.
Honorable Mention - Manaphy
💬 2 🔁 10 ❤️ 39 · You’ve probably done them but I can’t find it so, manaphy? Or phione? Anyone who has been following this blog for a litt
While I can’t exactly recommend that anyone adopt Manaphy as a pet, given the fact that they are a singular individual that lives at the bottom of the ocean, their kinship with humans and pokémon won them a high ranking in the algorithm, meaning that I need to give them their flowers here. We love you, Manaphy!
#1 - Spritzee
💬 1 🔁 28 ❤️ 106 · How about Spritzee? I assume it’s small size and its history of living side by side with people would help its score If
With their incredibly small size, long history of companionship with humans, and sweet scent that can heal those around them (a familiar trend among high-scoring pokémon this year), spritzees are a great option for pretty much any owner. From those with medical issues looking for a support pet that can relieve their symptoms, to someone looking for a loving pet that would be easy to care for in a small home, I could recommend a spritzee to almost anyone. This species scored so well, in fact, that they now hold the record for the highest scoring pokémon in the history of this blog!
And with that, you have our top ten pokémon pets of the year! Thank you to all of my readers, new and old, for sticking around with me for another year! 2026 promises to be pretty exciting, with big new games coming out to balloon our beloved pokédex even more! I’ll see you again next week, when your regular twice-a-week posts continue as we look to crown the top ten best candidates of 2026, little by little.

Hey everyone I’m excited to share my finished illustration for @pkmn30annivzine !!! The leftovers sale is about to end so this is your final chance to grab anything if you didn’t place a pre-order!
I’m really proud of how this illustration came out and glad I had the chance to take part in this zine!
If you didn’t know, my illustration is based off the 2006 “Pokémon Ranger & the Temple of the Sea” movie! I really love the water circus scene in the beginning, it’s just so magical and encompasses so much of what I love about the world of pokemon!!!
