Christmas starter for meg-justmeg

The Doctor knew it could potentially be dangerous to get Meg too much for Christmas, or to get her anything from the future, but he wanted to get her something regardless, so he thought of a few ideas.

First, he got her some food of various types, things he knew she enjoyed eating.  He got her some chocolate as well, although he knew she didn’t have it in her time period, he just got her a small little portion to keep her safe.  Lastly, he decided it was time she had her own key to his TARDIS, so he got her one of those as well.

He wrapped it all up and went off to see her on Christmas day.

“Merry Christmas,” he told her, handing her the gift.

"Thank you sir." She whispered turning away. "You are a very good man."

The Doctor stared at her for a moment, his limbs frozen, before he managed to reply.

"That's what my wife used to tell me."

Meg swallowed thickly managing a small smile. "He has it in for me..." She smirked as she ate the sandwich and quickly hid the money. "I haven't been caught before."

"Sounds right." he said, letting her go. "Off you pop, then."

"Please let go of me sir... I didn't hurt you if the Constable finds out I'll be hanging by tomorrow I told you what I was do-" She stopped frowning when the man held out some bread. She took it warily. "Why are you helping me?"

"Why wouldn't I help you?" He asked, continuing to look through his pockets. There was little of value - all the coins he had were for the wrong years, except one - it was from nearly one hundred years prior. Perhaps she could sell it.

"Here's an old coin - you might be able to sell it to some poor rich bugger. Why would you be hanged? Have you done this sort of thing before?"

Meg glared before smirking. "I always remind people of someone." She said and stopped struggling. "I was gonna take you next to The Thames were you'd be out a sight and I was gonna knock you out and take anything of value."

"Oh, well, rather cunning plan I suppose, but you could've just said please."

Still holding her wrist in a rather vice grip, he started to go through his pockets. There was little there that he could offer - but there was a sandwich.

"You can have this if you like - blimey, what year is it? I don't think they've been invented yet - but it's got cheese on it."

Meg winced trying to pull her arm away. "Let me go."

"I won't until you tell me what is going on. You have the same face as my late wife, and it's really quite offputting."
