Have you considered Megatron asking Makeshift to turn into Optimus, or maybe even Orion?

I have considered it, and seen it in a fic before (or. Well. At least planned in the fic. I didn't get to whether it actually ends up going through or not yet)

... but part of me really wants to see the results of this actually happening, especially considering how Megatronus and Makeshift were both gladiators before the war and Makeshift was one of Megatron's earliest followers.

There's a chance that Makeshift distinctly remembers pre-war Orion and Megatronus's old dynamic with the mech.

It could get ANGSTY, especially considering Megatron's behavior when he literally had Orion back on the Nemesis later on

Megatron is softer about it than Makeshift anticipated. He anticipated the anger, the frustration, the betrayal, the vengeance... He didn't expect the grief. The longing. The nostalgia.

Makeshift remembers what Orion was first like, before the war. When Shift was still in the gladiator pits. It's a hard part to play after so long.

Primus knows Megatron is trying to play the part of Megatronus, and how complicated it is to pretend you are who you used to be.
