JiuMei/MeiJiu AU where SJ really did lose all his memories in the qi deviation and became a lot nicer as a result. he tutors LBH one-on-one and LBH falls for this nicer version of his Shizun. SJ is still a strict teacher and absolutely not falling for any fake crying, but he can't remember hating LBH or his own past, so he steps in to stop the bullying, gets LBH into the dorms, and grills YQY until he confesses. he succeeds in saving LQG because he calls for help, since he's forgotten most things like how to stop qi deviations.

the abyss still happens of course but SJ explains why LBH has to go, and that he knew LBH was a demon for a while already. LBH comes back and again things generally happen the same way except they reconcile shortly after the trail and LBH doesn't try any world ending business bc that would just make SJ hate him (like he did before the deviation). all is going well, eventually they get together and are married. and then one day, SJ wakes up, looks at the grown man in his bed and panics, he draws Xu Ya and questions the- not a man- it turns out, a demon, who tells him they've been married for years. LBH realizes SJ has had another qi deviation, and lost all his memories again.

SJ then has to contend with all the changes and the decisions made by his other self, the one who was free of traumatic memories. drama and angst ensues!

Imma just mention that I'm about to disregard canon for a minute just in case ppl don't fw that.

I've said it before, that B9 is basically a breeding ground for dead doves for obvious reasons, but sometimes-

Sometimes I think just how awfully similar they are, being cut from the same cloth. Parallels and all that. And isn't that why they are so hateful and such a trainwreck together? Because they both represent the worst parts of each other?

But then there's that other side of the coin.

If both of them met during different circumstances, where they were able to nurture positive feelings for each other (looking at SJ specifically), and they both were receptive to those feelings? Who's to say they wouldn't love each other with the same intensity and fierceness as they would've hated each other? No need to explain further on Luo Binghe’s part. Like it took so long for him to give up completely on Shen Jiu, and then there's him never giving up on Shen Yuan at all when he reciprocated. Not even for the 5 years Shen Yuan was MIA.

And then there's Shen Jiu's unflinching loyalty (for YQ). Despite accepting Yue Qingyuan abandoning him as fact, he still tried to save that mf when they were in the water prison (that makes it the 3rd time SJ tried saving YQ's ass in the novel, and 2nd time after assuming he was left for dead by the very same man lol). That kind of devotion ain't nothing to scoff at, especially when it's coming from a person like Shen Jiu.

I just wanna know what would happen if Shen Jiu ended up directing that dedication to Luo Binghe, and you know how fucking feral that would make Luo Binghe be about him?

If they became each other's confidants and their special person instead of enemies, they would be a force to be reckoned with together. If only their similaries were something they bond over instead, or relate to.

Maybe they both shared a childhood and grew up in the same generation, or Luo Binghe ends up on a different peak, but Shen Jiu still manages to get his attention. Or Shen Jiu comes across a kind farmer, or Luo Binghe runs into a certain Qing Jing peak lord once he's already made emperor...

I have so many cute BingJiu scenarios playing in my head, and tbh it's not all that hard to imagine coz, again, parallels.
