Hey y'all I never post any original stuff anymore but I've been thinking a lot about genetics and mutations and stuff and thought I'd share my own fun little mutation. It's had to tell kind of since I'm white af but I have a skin mutation called piebaldism, which causes my melanocyte cells to die and stop producing pigments in sections of my skin. Essentially, I have little white patches all over my body where no pigment is being produced. This affects my hair, eyebrows, skin color, and even my eyes; my right eye experiences sectoral heterochromia in which part of it is blue and the rest is hazel. It doesn't cause any adverse health effects and is just a fun cosmetic thing. I will never be able to fully tan without having serious lines, though. I get a lot of questions irl about my white hair, if it's dyed, etc. and it's always been kind of fun for me to share this mutation with people who have never heard of it before. Many people know about piebald animals but it's extremely rare in humans. However, it is a dominant gene, which was passed to me by my mom, and my brother also inherited it. Since the mutated gene is dominant, there's a 75% chance that my own future children will be born with piebaldism, too.
