Clemar trashtalks tf out of you if you get hurt during a patrol or mission, Marcel doesn't try to interfere bc how tf did one of the most powerful mages in the empire get hurt, but he'll bandage you up

Speaking of patrols, he never and I mean NEVERRR lets you out of his sight and always joins you, with the exceptions of his own missions

+ He follows you to your patrols and freezes enemies for you

During the first few months of you guys dating, he mostly kept his distance. Whether it's being a few steps behind you, or having a gap between the two of you, it's always there. Gradually, it did close in.

Speaking of those first few months, he also felt distant. Not like when you were friends where the feeling was like "I don't like you, please go away" Nope, this was more different. Like he was trying to see if you'd leave. Can't really blame him though.

His affection is quiet, and his love language is probably gift giving and quality time (with a sprinkle of acts of service)

Not very good with emotions. If you cry, he'd literally internally panic while Clemar tries his best, you have to forgive the both of them for that. He tries his best to understand you though, so that's a plus.

Moving onto the pre-dating shit, the first one to notice was Aamon, the second one was Melissa. Aamon didn't mind it much but did always say "We could always adjust the type of wedding if you don't like the traditional Moniyan one" But Melissa? Oh, she TEASED him relentlessly for it. Gus stalked y'all for MONTHS.

Remember when I said he lingers around your mansion? Yeah well there's only three places he could be: Castle Aberleen, his studio, or your home

During his not-so-good days, he shuts himself in his studio to work. You have to drag him out just to eat.

If you like to yap a lot, he's the type to say "That's good" or "Interesting" Again, he's not good with his emotions (or words for that matter) so pardon him for that.

Uses old fashioned nicknames like "dear", "love", "darling", etc...

masterlist introduction

Marcel knows about you long before you two even meet. Don't get me wrong, he's not keeping tabs on you just because you're one of the rare few that Melissa keeps by her side, that attention is directed towards her more dangerous companions (cough forsaken light cough). But, with the sheer amount of times his cousin brings you up, it's impossible to not know.

Melissa talks a lot on the rare occasions that they meet up. She complains about her customers, her requests, or even just Aberleen itself. And somehow, your name just keeps popping up.

"Oh they helped me organize my inventory the other day!" or "The tea they made was soooo good..." or even "They kept stealing my scissors so I pulled a little prank on them as revenge!"

So when Marcel finally sees you in person at the shop, it feels less like meeting a stranger and more like finally putting a face to your profile.

You're one of the few people that Marcel trusts quickly. Again, it's not because you immediately stood out to him or anything. It's just, Melissa trusts you. And Melissa trusts almost nobody. Suspicious by nature, defensive by experience. The fact that she allows you to work by her side everyday says a lot, and if Melissa has already deemed you part of her little world, Marcel is inclined to believe that you are someone worth knowing.

Once you get to know him better, it seems like you've become some sort of buffer between Marcel and Melissa.

To be fair, their relationship is certainly a complicated one. They know each other too well to perform politeness, but too distantly to fully soften for each other. Melissa is all sharp edges and sarcasm while Marcel is so polite it makes you want to throw something at him.

TLDR they are both different kinds of ragebaiters that wants to get closer to one another but also feels kinda conflicted on how to go about it.

That makes you, in contrast, something like a stabilizing point between them. Meaning that you try your best to make sure another petty argument doesn't erupt over teatime, but at least your efforts don't go unnoticed by Marcel, hm?

Overtime, Marcel's interest in you develops. And of course, Melissa notices (why wouldn't she). She doesn't interfere or announce it directly, but for all her snark she's uncomfortably good at reading people. Instead of commenting seriously, she folds it into her usual sarcasm, letting remarks slip that are half observation half provocation.

Melissa neither approves or disapproves outright, but she does deliberately leave you and Marcel in the same space more often than coincidence would justify.

Once you and Marcel get together, Melissa is probably the first person to know (not because you told her, but because she figured it out). She has known both of you long enough to notice the tiny changes in behavior, like the way Marcel starts visiting the shop more often than necessary, the way your gaze lingers on him, or how the two of you somehow end up hovering around each other, subconsciously or not.

Melissa hates it. Don't get me wrong, she's happy that her friend and half-brother managed to get together, but gosh tone it down on the visits?? The shop is no longer peaceful because of Marcel, and everyday she has to sit and wait for the inevitable time that he comes in and distracts or lord forbid kidnaps her reliable employee friend for the day.
