They Didn’t Know (Ginny Weasley x Reader)
I wrote this for me, but you can read it too if you want!
Honestly, I don’t know what this is. But it makes me happy.
Everybody in Hogwarts knew of Melody Smith. They’d seen her before, whether on the Ravenclaw quidditch team or in classes, everyone could recognize her.
But not many people knew her. The shy Ravenclaw mainly kept to herself, her books and her broom. She could have easily become popular, but she “had no interest in such scandals”.
Hi. I’m Ginny Weasley, one of the few people who know Melody. And the only person who truly knows her. The way her hazel eyes glitter in the sunlight. The way her nose crinkles when she laughs. The fact that she can recite every ingredient in Liquid Luck while scoring twenty points for Ravenclaw. How she enchanted her glasses so they wouldn't break during games.
First-years often mistook us for rivals because of how violent we could get during Quidditch, but they couldn't be more wrong.
People didn’t know the Melody I knew. They only knew the bookworm who’s good with a broom. They didn’t know the Melody who would rave about her favorite YouTubers that she watched over summer. They didn’t know the Melody who hated watching sports or the Melody who would quietly hum muggle music while she read.
They thought she was a perfect girl. That she had it all. Grades, athletics, and looks. But they didn't know the Melody who would sneak into the Gryffindor common room when studying became too stressful. They didn’t know the Melody that would forget to eat while reading. They didn’t know the Melody who would break down from stress and fall tearfully into my arms.
They didn’t know the little things that make her, her. They didn’t notice the three ponytails on her wrist that made up the pan flag. They didn't notice how she always lost her earrings, or that her socks never matched. They didn’t notice her painted, but clearly chewed fingernails. They didn't notice how she always chose apple cider over pumpkin juice.
People knew Melody Smith, the straight As Ravenclaw Chaser. They didn’t know Melody, the frazzled bookworm with the imagination of an Eagle, but the passion of a Lion. They didn’t know the competitive, spunky, creative girl I was proud to call my girlfriend. And we were okay with that.
Melody and Jason Smith stopped by to see how Charlie was doing. They have been worried about him and disturbed that he was placed in the asylum against his will. In addition, the patients have been treated inhumanely. They only have one restroom to be used among 8 people, the food is disgusting, and beds have been removed. Not to mention, there have been a record amount of deaths taking place at the asylum. Nonetheless, Jason has been trying to free Charlie using his political power, but the situation is proving difficult for Jason.
Meet Commander Melody Smith. Then Melody Weaver, she graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2367, and from there served on the USS Enterprise D for a little over three years. In 2369, she married Madden Smith. After her husband’s transfer to the USS Eagle and its subsequent destruction, Melody returned to earth, expecting a lower-pace job at the Academy. Under the cover of her data entry job however, she soon found herself working on highly classified projects relating to the Eagle’s demise. She continued this job up through the period of her husband’s rescue in 2372. After assisting him through his recovery, she received a promotion to commander and went to Starbase 80 with him to serve at his side.
Melody continued her undercover work while on the station, but the situation became dangerous. In 2375, while temporarily on the USS Eregion, Melody was captured by the entity along with the captain of the ship. They managed to escaped later in the year and were found by the crew of Starbase 80. Unfortunately, Melody had been poisoned during her captivity, which resulted in blindness and permanent biological consequences. Due to this illness, she spent the next several years going back and forth to earth. A bright point of these difficult years was the birth of the Smiths’ two children. In 2380, Commander Smith returned to Starbase 80 permanently with both children, where the mystery of the entity has still not been solved.
The brew of Starbase 80 was co-created with @sharonz-arty-corner03!
“It’s so nice to spend some quality time with one another since the kids are finally out of the house,” Melody laughed as she danced with her husband.
“I second that!” Jason replied although he knew they both missed their daughters dearly.
Happy Birthday, Jason and Melody!
