I've a vision for Merthur AU and i shall share it with you;
Gwen casually mentioned Arthur's dream to live in a farm House with Merlin where none knows who he's. After the shock Merlin felt internally at realizing he's a part of Arthur's dream, he would laugh it iff and tell Gwen that Arthur the prat wants to burden him with housework for the rest of his life, bcz he's lazy and obviously arrogant prat.
However, this only sparked a thought in his head. To take Arthur to a cabin deep in the forest beyond the hill, where they decided to live there after Merlin casts a spell on him that makes him unrecognizable to anyone who meets him. Meanwhile, Merlin returns to the palace to cast another spell that includes something resembling a hologram that represents Prince Arthur, until the time comes for Arthur to become king, so that Arthur can return to the castle once more and legalize magic in the land again; this way, Merlin protects Arthur from certain death every day.
But there's one obstacle: he must confess his magic to Arthur, Arthur will have to choose whether to end Merlin's reign of terror or to accept his plan.
If Arthur decides Merlin will live, that would change many things, such as Morgana also discovering Merlin's magic, and so on. She decide to help them, in her own ways, magic used or not, so that they can bring magic back. Surprisingly, after the success of this plan, (hopefully) Arthur nearly refuses to return to the throne and prefers to live in the secluded house with Merlin. However, Merlin convinces him that he is the king of all times and that he will never leave his side. Or perhaps they will remain in the farmhouse. (?, sounds better to me)
