"Hey, bub."
-------
This is what came up when I sat with thinking of memorable lines from the second installment of 'Zootopia'.
“When I think of my wife, I always think of her head. The shape of it, to begin with. The very first time I saw her, it was the back of the head I saw, and there was something lovely about it, the angles of it. Like a shiny, hard corn kernel or a riverbed fossil. She had what the Victorians would call a finely shaped head. You could imagine the skull quite easily.
I’d know her head anywhere.
And what’s inside it. I think of that, too: her mind. Her brain, all those coils, and her thoughts shuttling through those coils like fast, frantic centipedes. Like a child, I picture opening her skull, unspooling her brain and sifting through it, trying to catch and pin down her thoughts. What are you thinking, Amy? The question I’ve asked most often during our marriage, if not out loud, if not to the person who could answer. I suppose these questions stormcloud over every marriage: What are you thinking? How are you feeling? Who are you? What have we done to each other? What will we do?”
– Gillian Flynn, Gone Girl
This opening has stayed with me since the day I first opened my copy of Gone Girl. I tell ya, I aspire to make a great hook like this every time I start writing.
Tell me your favourite line that I’ve written 💙
notable line
"If you can’t believe in yourself,
THEN BELIEVE IN ME WHO BELIEVE IN YOU THEN"
— simon, 2017
it will always, always be the way that your writing absolutely destroys me with the FeelsTM, even in the middle of filthy smut 💖
Stoooooop this is so nice 🥹🥹❤️❤️ I am a big proponent of filth ‘n’ feelings!
[ Anonymously - or not - tell me what passage, fic, line of narration, or anything you remember me by as a writer. ]
You’re writing? OMG… it’s gotta be the introspection and Feels. Your words pull me in like nothing else. Any fandom you drop into is blessed by the way you magically weave words and crack open the characters like emotional eggs.
And of course, He could create something with her, he thinks. But he knows they’ll just end up destroying each other instead. is always at the back of my brain 💞🦛
I DO love poking around in characters’ brains. It gives me great joy to poke them with a stick and see what happens.
And of course twist yourself around me, the schitt’s creek/crazy ex-girlfriend crossover that wouldn’t stop harassing me until I wrote it down. That fic holds a special place in my heart.
Thanks friend!
