Memory project - Rahma, 5 ans
Anybody know what the Memory Project is?
Here’s a picture of the portrait I did this year for The Memory Project (something everyone reading this post should look into) Incase you didn’t know, The Memory Project takes pictures of people in unfortunate situations and sends them to artists and art teachers around the world to get their portraits done. It’s really a nice gift because a lot of times these people don’t have access to photographs or ways of remembering happy moments, and it just shows that someone out there cares about them- cares about them enough to spend hours on a work of art for them. Here’s a link to their website: https://memoryproject.org
I completed this about 3 weeks ago. The little boy’s favorite color was red, and being tired of all of the same fire and flower backgrounds kids who like this color see over and over again, I painted a giant crab in the background. I thought it as fitting because beautiful crabs live in the Philippines, and I hope he can cherish this painting for as long as necessary. Also- fan brushes save lives.
I usually don’t say this, but please don’t remove the caption on this picture. I posted it to spread the word about this organization.

Big thank you to Melissa in the Philippines for her dedication to The Memory Project!
But in my brief career I saw quite clearly the purpose of the archival profession. The purpose of the archival profession is to curate the past, not confront it; to entrench inequality, not eradicate it; to erase black lives, not ennoble them.

Now, I completed this a while ago... I am terrible at updating on time... but yeah, I have fully animated a section of my Memory Project! WOO!
A pastel drawing for the memory project where you get a picture of an orphan and then you draw it and send the drawing back. This took me about 3 hrs.
