I really like to think of Xiao as the youngest of the Yakshas, since his name 魈 (mountain demon) sounds similar to Xiao (小, small), which gives me an excuse to make the Yakshas call him Xiao Xiao, so small Xiao <33
Teeny Xiao <33. Baby Xiao <3. The thought of him being spoiled by his big siblings brings me sm joy

You should've listen to Cloud Retainer. You huffed as you made your way down the steep cliffside. The seals you happened to be experimenting with were easily triggered. She had scolded you for your tendency to make easily triggered seals and kept telling you to not do it. As much as you hated to admit it, she was right. Now you were lost in unfamiliar territory on top of a large cliff. You felt like tearing your horns out in frustration. You were getting nowhere. It had been days and no signs of civilization or anyone.
The only interesting things that you encountered were the slimes that meet their untimely demise by your weapon, or in one case, met its demise in your stomach. The rocks beneath your feet did not part with their secrets and the wind did not hold much information. Something led you to be wary in donning your illuminated beast form. So you resorted to a more human form and trotted your way down the mountain in your nice clothes. Not long into your journey you happened upon a worn path and followed it.
What was once the ruins of the Guili Assembly now stood a small city. As you drew closer to the city you could see it was filled with life and festivities. Your father was going to be displeased when you returned. Sending yourself back in time? Seriously?! It was okay you had this. Adepti and humans mingled together in the city and neither seemed to mind one anothers oddities. None took notice of your strangeness and mingled by you effortlessly. What to do now, you wondered.
"There was a place in that city that had the most wonderful bamboo soup. It is a shame you will never get to try it.“ You could hear your father's voice faintly in your mind. You should be a responsible adult and try to get back to your own time since your father was likely wondering where you were. But, what if you could be a tourist for awhile? Wait did this place even take mora? You wandered a bit before eyeing a fruit stand. You looked at the many fruits and even picked a few up to study them. Did the years of evolution really make a difference in fruits?
The stand tender caught your attention and began to babble at you. Mild panic began to creep into your bones as the language barrier you didn't think about presented itself. The man said something again at your slightly panicking face, and concern made it's way on his. You set down a few mora and composed yourself. Turning on your heel, you quickly left the stunned man behind and took the fruit you were holding with you.
The cobble stones clicked beneath your boots as you fled between houses and shops. You took a corner too fast in you panic and slammed into someone else. You both tumbled to the floor and apologies immediately flew from your mouth. You stood up and hauled the brown haired man back onto his feet with nearly no effort.
“I'm sorry! Are you okay?“ You asked as you looked at the man's now dirty state. There was an adeptus next to him who seemed confused at your speech. The brown haired adeptus gave a quick look to his friend before looking back to you. The brown one said something you did not understand. His purple friend next to him saying something else in return. Awkward silence filled the small allyway as you were unsure what to do next. Talking and interacting with people was always difficult and you felt like you could never truly understand them. It was part of the reason why you up and fled earlier despite probably doing no wrong-doing.
You gestured towards him and then gave a thumbs up, hoping he understood what you meant. He nodded and smiled, giving a thumbs up in reply. You nodded to let him know you understood. Using your thumbs to signal behind you, you turned towards the other end of the ally and fled from the interaction. This was far more difficult then you thought and you just needed a moment away from everything to debate your life. You needed a field with plenty of rocks to calm down in. You could interrogate the rocks and eat the fruit you may or may not have stolen. You aburptly stopped your sprinting part way out of the city. You forgot the fruit in the allyway. Well, it was lost to the city now, you weren't going back for it.
It was some time before you found yourself in a place you decided was good enough to rest.
The large, slightly rocky field you found yourself in had plenty of sunshine and places to lay on. The mid-afternoon sun gently warmed you as you sat in the field with a large stone in your hands. You gave the rock a gentle shake.
“Tell me your secrets.“ You murmured to it and your shook it with a little more force. The rock did not respond and only resonated with a confused refusal. The other rocks also began resonating with the same confusion at your interogation. “Give me something to work with please.“
The rocks remained largely silent at your demand and you sighed. The very earth beneath you was your specialty and yet it seemed unwilling to give any sort of information to you. You were created from the very earth you sat on, why did it not respond to you like it always has? A voice called from behind you and you turned to see the two adepti from earlier.
“Danger?“ You asked the rocks who once again only responded with confusion. Part of you began to wonder if maybe there was a language barrier between you and the rocks. It would make sense as to why the earth did not respond to you, but you found it strange that there could be a barrier like that to begin with. You stood and dusted yourself off as the two approached. The brown haired one held your fruit in his hand. The electro one seemed excited to see you again. Your fruit was held out to you once they finally stopped in their approach. You threw the rock you were holding some distance away from its rock friends.
You took the fruit, clawed fingers digging into it's sides as you gave the male your thanks. He nodded and said something to you which you did not understand. He took a minute to contemplate and then pointed to himself.
“Menogias.“ He said and then motioned his hands towards his friend. “Bosacius.“ You assumed that they must have given you their names so you pointed to yourself and gave yours. Bosacius said something and you only started at him in confusion. Menogias said something else to his friend and they seemed to debate something. You took a moment to study the two adepti. They both seemed familiar but you couldn't quite place it.
The geo energy beneath you shook with warning that something was coming. Where or what it was, you did not know not for the geo energy give that information to you in the way you normally understood it. You tried to remain casual looking but started to become more alert of your sorroundings. You listened for whatever it was that was approaching but did not hear it. The two in front of you were now debating with gestures and you tried not to take your eyes off of them in case whatever this was happened to be with them.
A woman's voice called off on the far distance for the two males. There were two humaniod figures walking toward your trio and the two in front of you turned back to you.
“Looks like you two are needed. I'm just gonna go.“ You gave them a wave and tried to leave, however Bosacius gave you a beeming smile and came by you side, wrapping an upper arms around your shoulder as he did so. He babbled something to you, gesturing towards the two approaching figures. You looked at him suspiciously and looked to where Menogias stood, his face apologetic for his friend's bright personality. The geo energy beneath ground stirred with an emotion of weariness and approaching dangers.
Be cautious, something strong. It warned.
Menogias said something to Bosacius and the other replied with a defensive tone, but his arm left your shoulder. It was too much. Between the geo humming with warning, the two males trying to find a way to communicate, and the fact that you accidently teleported yourself to the past, you were done. You wanted to just decompress somewhere dark and warm, and preferably with a large amount of earth around you. Your tail swoshed with agitation and overstimulation behind you. Menogias seemed to see this a made a gesture that was likely meant to be comforting, but only served to fuel your growing agitation. You could vaguely make out the features of the two figures and decided that you wanted no part of this right now. When Bosacius called a name you did not fully hear, you bolted from beside him and fled for somewhere.
In hindsight, you really should have thought about the fact that the archon war was currently going on and that a stranger like you showing up raised quite a few red flags. But, hindsight was hindsight for a reason. A large hand caught your wrist and you instinctively tried to twist out of it. When that didn't work and another hand was on your other wrist, you did the next thing you were taught to do.
Feeling the Geo hum at your feet, you slammed your tail on the ground and created two earthy structures to force the two away from you. While one did catch Bosacius off guard, the other did not hit Menogias, instead he let go of your wrist to twist away the from geo pillar. Switching into your draconic adeptus form, you ran as far as you could until a much larger dragon adeptus tackled you to the ground. The resulting fight wasn't much of a fight as you squirmed and hissed underneath their weight. You only managed to get a bite in until they took a paw and forced your muzzle to the ground. They then proceeded to sit on you until you calmed enough.
The towering dragon blocked the sunlight from hitting your eyes as you tried to wiggle your way out. The geo around you seemed to be weighed down by a power far greater then your own. With a shout of something, the two adepti from earlier came into your vision as they looked to the beast atop of you. You listened to them talk and let out an indignant huff. There was a nip at your ear and you let out a deep, muffled, hiss. The woman from earlier appeared at the other side of your head from the two adepti and you stared at her with a plea in your eyes. She gave a smile and a pat on your scaled muzzle.
“Morax.“ She called and looked up to the dragon above you. Dread filled your bones at one of the names of your father. A deep rumbling voice came from above you and then an all too familiar head came into your vision.
You're doomed.
Menogias watched the dragon in front of him shift and dig into the sand in their cage. Morax had specially crafted this cage for the large dragon adeptus that they had captured. They were powerful enough with the geo element to cause problems with Morax's absolute dominance over said element, but they obviously lacked in the social department. The look of unsurity in every conversation he had had with you came to the front of his mind. He ignored the thought of you hauling him up of his feet like he weighed nothing as it appeared in his mind. His feet began to move before his mind caught up to what he was doing.
“The language is similar to our own, but different enough to not be able to understand them. Menogias will you—” Morax turned from where he was talking to Guizhong to find his young apprentice gone from his spot and talking to the adeptus in the cage.
“I believe he is still enraptured by them.“ Guizhong laughed. “You know he can't stay away from puzzles like this.“

A word from the author:
Hey folks, its been some time hasn't it?
I have released this work as it is never to be completed, however I enjoy the idea too much for it to just continue to rot in my drafts. Perhaps someone will take this idea and run with it one day.
I've lost alot of steam regarding writing, I've had so much going on. I have so many drafts that aren't completed from so many fandoms. Some of these may be released as incomplete.
The premise of this story was something like like this.
-reader is in the past and eventually falls in love with Menogias. They also eventually find a way to stall and cure the resentment. Happy ending all around.
I hope you all have a wonderful day/night and enjoyed reading this work even though its incomplete.
tHAT'S MENOGIAS??? THAT'S LITERALLY. MENOGIAS. XIAO'S DEAD FRIEND AND COMRADE? GENERAL KAPISAS, THE GEO YAKSHA?? He and Bonanus presumably killed one another in battle?? Menogias, the one who designed Zhongli's outfits. I'm sorry I'm not normal about this, it's MENOGIAS
