Tell Us More About That Podcast
Episode titled: "Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT): A conversation with Bob Drozek, LICSW and Dr Brandon Unruh, MD
Let's π freaking π go π
A podcast episode by qualified mental health professionals that treats people with NPD (and BPD) as dignified, complex, and treatable individuals, with accommodations BY the providers.
Highly recommend this episode ππ»β¨
They even discuss the commonly demonized difference between vulnerable and grandiose presentations of NPD. They highlight that while people with vulnerable narcissism might be more likely to seek treatment themselves (although that is not always the case,) people with grandiose narcissism that are brought into treatment by the insistence of family members or those close to them are likely to engage with treatment/recovery when the clinician helps the patient make the connection between the behavior they were referred for and their internal distress.
They further place emphasis on the therapist doing their actual freaking jobβ who said that?! I meant to say they emphasize the therapist not "getting their feewings huwt π₯Ί" when a patient splits on them. You're a therapist. You're getting information. This is part of their condition. SUCK. IT. UP. Hold your space or get a different job.
Overall, it was a breath of freaking fresh air to hear not one word of demonization towards people with NPD!!!!!! LEt's gooooo!!!
