Wow Dimitri really did that? He is really strong if he could pick you up like that. Now any cute stories about Ingrid as a child?
Oh yeah, he didn’t know his own strength for a while. That was an interesting time.
...Uh, Ingrid? She spent most of her time yelling at me for getting in trouble. Or getting Felix or Dimitri in trouble right along with me. Or having them rescue me from my trouble.
Oh, you know what? There was one time where she was pretty adorable. I don’t remember which birthday it was, but she got me this very nice handkerchief embroidered with my initials on it. Of course, I had all kinds of fancy things. I didn’t want for anything, courtesy of my parents. If there was something that could be bought to represent power or status, I had it, whether I asked for it or not.
I guess that’s what made her think I might not like it. She was pretty nervous to hand it over when it was such a small box. Way smaller than everything else that came before it. Ingrid was a lot of things: fierce, beautiful, fearless, and somehow always hungry, but she was almost never unsure. To mean that much that she was worried what I would think, that really reached my heart. There could have been nothing at all in that box, and I would have been happy to get it, just to see her smile.
You know, I don’t remember many other presents from that party, and I still have that dapper handkerchief. After everything that’s happened, I think that’s saying something.
