Considering your trick or treating events with claude, did you do anything fun like that at the academy on april fools day?
I personally did nothing. I’ve made my sentiments on April Fool’s known. Fewer students were on campus at the time, as classes were not yet fully in session and travel arrangements were still underway, so there weren’t many people present to contend with.
Claude, however, was there because the House Leaders were considered a priority for Garreg Mach. That was why I was there along with Lady Edelgard, Dimitri, Dedue, Hilda, Lorenz, and Claude. I understand Count Gloucester called in some favors to have his son in the advance group as well. Between the impish impulses of Hilda and Claude, they had no small amount of delight inflicting pranks on the rest of us equally.
I’ll grant them that... Title and rank spared no one. Lorenz was kept in the dark about it, as far as I’m aware, and I believe Dedue simply told them Dimitri’s boundaries in advance so any childish antics would not go too far. I did the same for Her Majesty, so it would not surprise me if that rumor turned out to be true.
While I disapprove of the practice, I understand my opinion is not universal. Dimitri and Lady Edelgard, while exasperated, did seem almost relieved to not be above such things.
Sylvain you are a big softie you know that. Reaches up and ruffles his hair.
*chuckles as you ruffle his hair* I’m choosing to believe you’re talking about my kind, generous heart, because I’ve never been so fit in all my life. We can’t all be more muscle than anything else like His Highness or Dedue, you know.
What do you make of King Dimitri's Duscurian bodyguard, Dedue? There's such an amount of rumors going on about him it's hard to form an opinion. Some say Dimitri is his lover, others say the King is his puppet. Do you think he's been a reasonable element in terms of diplomacy? Or do you believe he's secretly enabling and nurturing the King's worst impulses?
He is intriguing, as I’ve said. There’s no telling what may have been had we not stood on opposing sides of the war. Yet we do.
As for forming an opinion, that’s merely a matter of observing his behavior and making deductions. Rumors are swiftly dispatched by logic and fact. Of course, when it comes to relationships, that takes significantly more observation. I would say I am highly skeptical of His Highness being a puppet to Dedue. He is far too respectful of his choices, however flawed, for that to be an effective method of control. Dedue could be his lover, perhaps. But not his master.
In terms of diplomacy, Dedue may be a stabilizing presence if King Dimitri is willing to listen. He is difficult to reason with in his current state. But, if that were to change, yes. Dedue would be a reasonable element. He is prone to extremism in duress, as most people are. There’s no doubt he would go to any length for His Highness. But he has largely good judgment. Where Dedue indulges the worst impulses his lord has are with his self-neglect and spite towards Her Majesty. I cannot see that translating to subjecting the general people to undue torment.
Did you have any opinion on Dimitri during your time at the Academy? Do you think that, if he knew what Those Who Slither In The Dark did to him, he could have been your ally in this war? From what I know, he’s not all that faithful either...
I did, naturally. At the time, I was unaware of his precise history with Her Majesty, on account of her difficulty recollecting that time. I deduced that they must have interacted due to her presence in Fhirdiad, no doubt in the castle through Lord Arundel’s connections... It only followed that they would at least known of one another. The extent of that would not become known until later and as such, it didn’t sway my opinion of him drastically. Not then.
At the academy, His Highness frankly struck me as shortsighted and an exact product of his nation’s devotion to senseless chivalry. Grating though it was, I felt he was tolerable in short spells. It was over time that I came to realize a darker layer beneath his princely demeanor that inspired a closer look.
I had hoped his fervor in pursuit of the truth behind the Tragedy of Duscur would lead him to Lord Arundel’s involvement, after which it would be much simpler to reveal the existence of Those Who Slither in the Dark. Briefly, I even believed he might manage it.
He bit back on his violent impulses and attempted to approach matters strategically even if the information he did have suggested a negative outcome. Granted, this restraint did not always withstand what he encountered, but he did still make the effort. It was a promising sign that he might yet join Lady Edelgard after finishing his investigation.
Because if he had discovered that truth, then yes, I am certain he would have been our ally in this. I would allow Dimitri to enlist on the grounds of his personal investment. He may require tempering when his rage took hold, but he’s hardly the first in our midst to need a steady hand at his side. Dedue already holds that role, and I would have seen no reason to change that. The Church meant little to him aside from habit, insofar as I observed. His alliance with Her Majesty would have been ideal.
Yet that is not what happened, and as it stands, I have better odds explaining the truth to a fish than I do the crown prince of Faerghus.
Okay, thanks to Ferdinand I feel like you might know this; If Adrestia has a specific tea for the Emperor's family, and the Alliance has their special tea that the noble families get to have, why haven't I heard of the Kingdom having something like that?
Ferdinand, you say? Hm. One would expect he knows more about tea than I would.
In any event, the answer is actually rather simple. Because tea is largely perceived as medicinal rather than a symbol of refinement in Faerghus, there is no tea blend affiliated with the royal family.
A popular tea in Faerghus is actually dandelion tea, as the weed itself is hardy and grows nearly anywhere. Even in some regions of Sreng, if reports are to be believed. However, the tea can be quite potent in its cleansing effects, even debilitating for some, so I wouldn’t advise drinking it wantonly.
Dedue had the right of it when he suggested not consuming weeds, I should think.
What Edelgard is the shortest? I know how she feels cause I’m the shortest in my family Hubert. Are you taller than the former Golden Deer and Blue Lion students?
Yes. With her authoritative presence, I’m not surprised that came as a shock to you. I do believe her height causes her some dismay, as I said, and she could very well be grateful to have someone that will relate.
As for myself in relation to the other former students at Garreg Mach, Dedue and Raphael have always been taller. Lorenz and I stood at the same height, although with somewhat different builds.
Dimitri may be as tall as I am now, despite being shorter in our time at Garreg Mach. I doubt he’d allow me to simply ask. I would surely be disagreeable to such a situation as well.
Back at you! We’re two birds of a feather, you and me. Ingrid’s ruling the gorgeous warrior look, and Dedue is has the stalwart guardian appeal down pat. Of course, Felix and Dimitri took over handsome completely. For a couple cuties like us, that just leaves being naturally adorable.
