Hello to all Merging Families Fans, we have finalized our schedule for the event. We are opening up prompts soon so get your thinking hats on so that you can add your favorites to the list.
We have included a FAQ so that your general questions will be answered. If you have other questions you can contact us thru tumblr or on the Birdflash Server on discord. Hope to see everyone's great ideas soon.
FAQ's
Overview
This weekend is focusing on any pairing between a Flashfam member and a Lantern Corps member. For the rules of this civilian members count if they're established as a main member of the family (Linda, Joan, Iris, etc.) and any and all heroes and/or villians who fall under the category of a "Lantern" or a "Flash." This also applies to characters like Carol and the Lanterns of other corps than the Green Lantern Corps, and also the Quicks on the Flash side. If you're worried about your ship qualifying or not feel free to ask me, but if you think it fits the definition then write it or draw it!
NO GENERATIVE AI ALLOWED
Are Multiships allowed?
As Long as They: Contain multiple Lanterns and/or multiple flashes (ie. Eobard/Hal/Barry would be allowed) OR Contain a bat and a flash and focus on them (ie. Hal/Barry/Bruce where the fic focuses on a Hal and Barry who are both dating Bruce, or on all three of them equally. What wouldn't be allowed is a BruceBarry or BruHal fic where they both mention dating Barry but Barry's not an active focus)
How Will Prompts Work?
They will be submitted via a form and voted on. There will be 3 SFW and 3 NSFW prompts for each day. Prompts must be non character specific for this event or they will be eliminated (ie you can't say " Flamebird Wally West" but you could say "Character Adopts New Identity"). Only 18+ individuals can submit 18+ prompts, or write NSFW fics.
We also ask that there be no Harry Potter themed prompts as this is not a Harry Potter event and we don't wish to alienate members of our community or perpetuate the continued amount of money J.K. Rowling makes.
Is there a Word Limit?
In short no. We want more fics with our favorite families, whether it’s a 100 word drabble or 100k word saga all are welcome. We also include things like new Art, and Podfics of already existing Fics that fit the idea. Just make sure you have the original authors consent or it will be removed from the collection. We do ask that all of the creations be a new creation, even if it's based off of something else.
Where can I post my Art?
Anywhere you normally post you art. Just make sure that you mention #MergingFamiliesFlashLantern and/or #MergingFamilies2025 in you tags so we can link you to the tumblr feed. If you post on tumblr, please tag/mention us so we can find you!
Late work rules:
“A writer is never late they arrive exactly when they mean to….”
Okay so sometimes we get a brain wave in the last possible minute or life you know happens so what do you do when you get that half-finished work and its June 27th and its still … half finished. No worries. The collection will remain open until Merging Families 2026. Just submit your completed work to the collection like you would have if it was still ‘on time.’
