Mermaids AU: Write-Summarize-Write Event August 2025

The Homestuck Fan Author Coalition's August 2025 WSW Event's theme for Chain 1 was Mermaids AU. In this event, created by Member Bralsra, participants were given the following prompt: "Ever heard of H2O: Just Add Water? At least one of the characters is a mermaid! We’re talking about the fish-tailed kind, not just a Troll becoming a sea dweller. Can be inspired by the Little Mermaid or not." They then were split into two teams, Writers and Summarizers, with each Writer given a 72 hour time period, and each Summarizer 24 hours. After the first fic in the chain was written based off the prompt, the first Summarizer then read and interpreted the prompt, passing their summary along to the second Writer, who in turn wrote their fic based on the prompt provided, and then that was passed along to the next Summarizer.
