A case for Simon looking like Simon...with pictures!
I think I've seen more fuzzy, towering, shirtless Simon fanart than I ever expected to see. It maybe wouldn't catch my attention if we didn't get a shirtless scene in Iron Lung where it is very clear that he's grubby and injured, but definitely smooth-chested. This is because Markiplier isn't a fuzzy guy. He's also 5'10". It's a perfectly average height! But he's not super tall or anything.
So let me bless this website with great reference images of Markiplier from about 6 years ago.
At the time most of the following pictures were taken, he was working with a personal trainer and bulking, so this is Mark a little bit beefier than, say, his mashed potatoes and gravy bathtub video when he was muscular, but leaner. The mashed potato video is one of the fuzzier examples of Mark you can find. Here's a screenshot of that!
See? He's got a little chest fur here. And mashed potatoes! However, most of the time after this, he's smooth-chested. In contrast, fanart I've seen of Simon has him as actual bear of a guy. Like, they have hair even on his stomach in a lot of this art.

I don't think Simon becomes a tree at the end of Iron Lung. I think he's just fertilizer. I think he becomes the Shadowman. But look at Merman Mark up there! THIS is what we should headcanon as Simon's next form.
