Probably the guide that guards were given to walk around Mersault
I've done a 180 on the Mersault finale and now think the whole "skk did an improvised plan with nothing but plastic fangs, contacts and their insane improv skills" kind of the best thing ever? Like yeah, we lost a LOT of potential angst material but looking back on it, this is insanely more funny. The whole fandom freaking out TWICE cause we kept thinking either of them is gonna die when in reality Dazai and Chuuya are simply incapable of killing each other.
Also I sure hope the fandom has realized that Chuuya is, in fact, REALLY GOOD at hiding his emotions and true intentions when he needs to, considering he managed to fool Dostoyevsky the whole time. Sure he's a brash and honest person, but only SOME of the time, and it's not a weakness like a lot of people assume it is, it's a choice.
And not to mention the final gem of the thing. There's no way Dostoyevsky is dead, not with so many mysteries about him still unsolved, and after this arc?? BOTH Dazai and Chuuya are on his hit list. His "these two people somehow managed to fool ME" list. His "next time I will make sure to murder them in cold blood" list. Love that despite SEEING how skk worked in the Dragon Head Conflict Dostoyevsky still thought the only real threat was from Dazai, someone he thought was on par with his intellect. But they come as a PAIR and goddamn if I'm not excited for the potential dynamic Dostoyevsky will have with these two in the future.
me finally understanding why i prefer skk over sigzai even though sigzai is tailor made for me
sigma and dazai see parts of themselves in each other. sigma is a young kid (three year old casino owner is CRAZY) at his core. dazai is too, don’t get me wrong—his constant childish personality is both a facade and the part of himself he wishes he could have back—but it feels very different in a way. dazai puts in so much effort to keep sigma around because sigma is like fifteen dazai. a young child at his heart who has been dealt such a horrible hand that he becomes cold and unwilling.
i think that’s why i cant ship them even if I wanted to—it’s like dazai taking care of himself when he was fifteen. that, and it feels like the friendships formed in primary school. so for me it’s like shipping two eight year olds together if that makes sense. i love their dynamic and i really hope sigma’s alive but skk and their history remain supreme. sigzai shippers ur actually iconic and I understand u sm but this is just my take :] feel free to disagree.
my proof of this lies in the dancing scene mainly. like you could not look me in the eyes and tell me that isn’t primary school kids learning how to waltz. it’s so endearing omg. it’s dazai dragging sigma into this childish display, with sigma protesting like “bitch get ur hands off of me” and dazai just hums along. reminds him of himself. he’d probably react similarly. or maybe sigma’s reaction is akin to chuuya’s, but that’s a WHOLE different can of worms.
Fydor has been alive possibly thousands of years and is intelligent enough to create a new language as he speaks it, even rapidly translating Dazai's own newly created responses,
and is still shit at Japanese.
It will never not be fucking hilarious to me. Dude can't write in it in Wan. Can't speak it in main. Fydor has been alive a milenia (probably).
Hes consumed the bodies of unknown quantities of people in effort to continue the span of his own life, stealing their cool outfits in the process, and yet he cannot for the life of him speak Japanese.
I may be writing a skk fic and expanding on that scene (we're destined to- yeah yeah do gay things wk) but I will never, in any universe, write their little gig as a thing they'd planned beforehand. in my universe, and in every universe I'm in (this isn't how the multiverse works) dazai absolutely didn't know about chuuya not being a vampire until the bullet to his head didn't go in more than a few millimeters.
Okay yall…. I don’t exactly ship sigzai but WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED HERE
I think Dazai exchanged some oxygen with sigma, because sigma was literally almost drowning and out of nowhere he gained enough strength to open a whole heavy door??
It’s not clear why Dazai had his eyes widened, and why sigma calmed down so suddenly, but thats my theory!!
I have no doubt Dazai would have a backup plan for this,,,
but honestly he should have expected a massive rebound and not directly assumed Fyodor was dead (he even asked Sigma if he could use his ability on a dead body like bro slooow down don't jump to conclusions like that)
bc when he was bragging into the mic, Fyodor was listening to all of what he was saying with this look on his face:
Fyodor's pleasantly smiling face is unsettling (because it always screams: i am gonna murder you rn i won't even hesitate)
yet, well, it's his usual face.
it's his seething face you gotta watch out for bc if he genuinely gets mad, it's the moment you know you gotta run for your life
Idk at what point I had decided that the mersault prison suit was a onesie or if it's some weird Mandela effect but now seeing a shirt in the anime feels wrong
